I went to watch the new Marvel movie “Eternals” this weekend featuring none other than Kumail Nanjiani! Now I know this movie hasn’t gotten the best reviews, but I personally really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. If you’ve seen the movie, or if you’ve seen some of the media surrounding the movie, then you know that there is a Bollywood scene in the movie!! Aka the first time Bollywood has made an appearance in Marvel!! A lot of you have been messaging me asking me what I thought of the Bollywood scene in the movie, and of Kumail’s performance, and so, I thought I’d share my thoughts with all of you. First of all, Kumail nailed it. He did such a great job. He was honestly the funniest one in the movie! I also personally really loved that Marvel didn’t make the Desi Eternal the techy one – did you notice that?! I think this was one of the first times in Hollywood where the Desi guy wasn’t the tech guy and I loved it! Another thing I really enjoyed in the movie were the few scenes where they actually spoke HINDI!! I mean WHAT?! Hindi in a Marvel movie?! My jaw was on the floor!! You hear other languages all the time, but never Hindi! Additionally Harish Patel’s role in the movie was hilarious, and made for a fabulous side character. I even really appreciated that they kept it culturally accurate with him calling Kumail “sir” throughout the movie. And best of all… they had an actual Bollywood scene in the movie. The way they showed the posters with the family generations within Bollywood, and the song being filmed, was so appropriate. It was such a cool way for Marvel to acknowledge the grand industry that is Bollywood. It was a nod and it was appreciated. Let me know if you agree with my thoughts if you’ve seen the movie! Ever since this movie came out, my close family has called me Geet, because this character apparently reminds them of me. So I HAD to do this song!! 🥰💃🏽 P.S. @shahidkapoor in this movie is So. Damn. I got to go see @hasanminhaj show last night in Los Angeles @mstheater … and it was one of the BEST shows I have EVER seen!! I was rolling over laughing the entire time. He really has a way of bringing you in, and keeping you there. I’ve always loved Hasan Minhaj, and had high expectations going in, and came out just saying “DAMN.
