#Repost @matthewsinnaeve (@get_repost) ・・・ It’s been a tough stretch for my family lately. I unexpectedly lost an uncle recently. It’s never easy losing loved ones, but I’m doing okay. He was also a beloved father, son, and brother. The toughest part of this grieving process for me has been talking to my grandparents and dad about it because I can hear and feel the pain in their voices. A parent should never have to see the day that one of their children goes before they do. For any reason. However, it is an unfortunate part of life. The morning after the night he passed, a friend of mine became an aunt, and it was like seeing the circle of life before my eyes; from death comes new life. My uncle’s passing is yet another reminder for me to not take what time I have in this life for granted because it can come to an end in the blink of an eye. Do all that you can...travel, fall in love, get your heart broken, take chances, and make mistakes. Live a full life because you’ve only got one to live and time is precious. #Repost @matthewsinnaeve (@get_repost) ・・・ Rejection is something that we all are forced to experience at one point or another. Some people spend their young adult lives dreaming of going to a certain school, but don’t get accepted. Perhaps it’s that job or promotion you’ve worked so hard for and you don’t get it. And I think just about everybody has experienced being rejected by that guy or girl they really like (which is no fun I might add). I can’t tell you how many castings I’ve been to that I thought I nailed and was the right fit for the job, but they end up going a different direction. I ran out of fingers and toes a long time ago. And I will continue to face rejection again and again as I further my career as a model and actor. But that’s life. Being rejected could end up being the greatest blessing of all! Walt Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star in 1919 because, his editor said, he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” @oprah was fired as a news reporter because she couldn’t separate her emotions from her stories. #AnnaWintour was fired while a junior editor at @harpersbazaarus. @madonna? She dropped out of college, moved to NY, and didn’t last a day working at @dunkindonuts. Go to Google and type in “35 Famous People Who Were Painfully Rejected Before Making It Big” if you want more. I’ve been fortunate to meet some wonderful, creative people and be a part of some incredible projects thus far, but I’ve been sleeping on a couch for over a year and have by no stretch of the imagination “made it” contrary to what you might think. Maybe I’m crazy, but I feel like I’m the luckiest guy alive because I have a roof over my head and have the opportunity to make a dream become reality. Instagram is a lot of smoke and mirrors and people aren’t as famous as they claim or appear to be. For most people, it’s a highlight reel. Remember that. #Repost @matthewsinnaeve (@get_repost) ・・・ There was a time not all that long ago that people laughed or thought I was crazy when I told them I was moving to New York to model. In a way they were right; I think you have to be a bit crazy to pursue dreams...whatever they may be. This past year has proven to me that there is nothing more unpredictable than life. Modeling has opened a door to acting for me, which I have found to be the ultimate form of creative expression. However, I don't think I was brought into this world to simply be a model or even an actor for that matter. I think my life's purpose is beyond myself and has yet to be revealed. The thought of that is what gets me out of bed every morning...knowing that I'm one step closer today than I was yesterday.
