🌈Pride Portraits: Alan Turing 1912–1954 Turing was a brilliant British mathematician who took a leading role in breaking Nazi ciphers during WWII. Homosexuality was illegal in the United Kingdom and in 1952 he was charged with "gross indecency". Following his arrest, Turing was forced to choose between temporary probation on the condition that he receive hormonal treatment or imprisonment. He chose the former, and soon underwent chemical castration. He was also barred from continuing his work in cryptography. So last night I went to se the Immitation game then came home and watched four sherlock episodes I’m fairly sure that’s around seven or eight straight hours of Benedict Cumberbatch and I don’t really know where I was going with this
