‘What do we want? Justice! Boycott Wendy’s!’

Hundreds of Immokalee farmworkers and supporters took over the block outside Wendy’s headquarters in New York Nov. 18. Inside the upscale Manhattan offices were several of Wendy’s board of directors. The fast food giant refuses to pay the workers that pick their tomatoes a penny more per pound.

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in the fields of corporate social responsibility, community organizing, and sustainable food.

It is estimated that the same number of human trafficking cases occur in the United States each year as there are homicides. However, 65% of homicides are solved, whereas only 1% of human trafficking and modern slavery cases are even brought to court.

If you consume food in America you have an obligation to support the rights and human dignity of the workers who grow and pick that food.
