Dear Vector Prime, I'm aware that most Autobots in the Malgus cluster receive their names based on stand-out personality traits or special powers. We know "Longarm" was named for his shapeshifting abilities, Optimus for his upbeat outlook, but why was Ultra Magnus named "Ultra?" What set him so far apart from his peers?
Dear Magnus Master,
Even from a young age, Ultra Magnus was a model Autobot. Though he lacked the flashy powers and gizmos that many of his fellow Autobots wielded, he made up for it with boundless reserves of courage, determination, and good spirits—and his near-perfect marks in Autobot boot camp greatly impressed his superiors.
Mostly, however, I believed that he owed his title to his gruff instructor Impactor Minor, whose no-nonsense approach led him to universally give literal, utilitarian names. Compared to his squadmates Fire, Boater, Wrench, and Highjump, I think young Ultra got off rather easy!
