  The clock struck 12 and all was silent on the streets. Siesta time was not like a curfew, enforced, but nonetheless the majority of Trefle citizens were almost always sound asleep at this time - and that was precisely why this was the time during which Freesia was the most fond of slipping out of the castle.

  Reveling in the peculiar stillness and serenity that came with a city of no movement, she treaded the quiet streets aimlessly, her steps light and as close to carefree as she ever got. Life was still apparent, definitely; many shopkeepers and pedestrians were strewn across the ground. Freesia was envious at the faith they had in their safety, and the peacefulness in which they dreamt. But this time of day was almost a dream in itself.

  A stray cat wandered into sight, startling her. As soon as she realized though, she smiled slightly and moved to crouch down, beckoning to it. However, in the next moment, laughter and distinctly human footsteps entered the equation, scaring off the cat and placing a guarded expression back on Freesia’s face.
