I was just minding my own business and suddenly remembered how in TCC, after at least several months of being in hiding because Voldemort and his followers were trying to murder their family, Lily apparently took baby Harry out for a stroll, and didn't notice or mind when two unknown teenagers briefly stole his baby blanket and applied some sort of potion to it.
“Lily Evans Potter strikes me as a careless and/or inattentive mother” said no one ever.
