I would do anything for this shitty old man. He’s an asshole but he’s my asshole. And I’m his mess.

I love my Hayden puppy and my Atlas monkey and my husband but there is something irreplaceable about a person who’s been through what you’re going through, knows their limits when it comes to helping you, doesn’t get overly stressed when you seem on edge, loves you either way, and has seen far worse messes than you in their life.

On the down side...he definitely contributes to my existential nightmare. I hate that I won’t have very long with him in my life, compared to my husband and parents.
