I got this amazing patch from @custer-mp3 and didn’t want to maroon it on a sweatshirt that I could never wear to work (yet another reason to hate capitalism is how it has neutered my wardrobe so thoroughly) so I am working it into a little quilt to hang on the wall. Added some buttons and a fuzzy cut yo yo, finishing up the boro type embroidery and then I’ll back and bind it!
Look at this quilt top in progress! All squares were quilted individually and then sewn together, and of course it ended up smaller than I wanted. I knew it would need a border, so I will start that tonight. I was hoping to have this done in time for mother's day, but then I had to work a TON and got the flu, so it will probably be one of those gifts that mom has to give back so I can finish it. 😂
I only had 2 days off this week (i know, boo hoo, i'm the worst) and I spent most of it sewing. I am working on a quilt for my mom, and hoping to finish it in time for mother's day. Today I started quilting the individual blocks, which was so fun. I'm looking forward to seeing how quilting each block separately will look once it's all put together.
Worked on curvy shapes this afternoon! I have just been playing with fabrics I have on hand, working on different shapes and techniques, without much thought about what it will end up being.
I finished the quilt for my cousin’s new baby, Brooke. It’s an improvised pattern, based on the floating squares score in Sherri Lynn Wood’s book, The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters: A Guide to Creating, Quilting, and Living Courageously. I used triangles instead of squares, obviously, but am so happy with the result. It came out of the wash all crinkly and soft! I hope the baby likes it.
This is an integral part of the quilting process!
I spent the day working on this, on and off. It’s quilted and the binding and label have been attached. Tomorrow I finish the binding and wash it! I never know how I am going to feel about these improvisational quilts until they are done, but I feel good about this one.
Today was a really nice, rainy, cozy NW day. I spent it sewing and drawing and watching adventure time. I am at the point in this quilt top where I am not sure what the hell I'm doing, but am hoping it works out. Using the scraps to "doodle."
