OMG I AM SO SPLIT ON THIS. So on the one hand, all that hyping up for Mina to be the badass and save the day and confront the villain, and instead she’s saved by the boys. Which is a problem. But we do want to develop our characters. And we’ve never really seen Mina have a moment of hesitation...since her final exam, she’s never really had a moment of failure to regret and angst over, so it can be useful to give her a conflict now. And it’s Kirishima who saves her, so there’s the  callback to their origin story - what with her being the one who stood up before, and him being the one who hesitated, so there’s that.

Again, torn. My shipper heart wants to just explode over KiriMina having a “one saves the other” moment here (please let there be a ‘my legs moved before I could think’ line with this later) but it’s also Kiri stealing Mina’s thunder here and doing her job for her.

Ah Kiri and Tetsu stuff

OK  now it’s just Red Riot feels and Kirimina feels. I think I’ll stop bitching and just surrender.

OMG Kirishima vs Toga is the matchup I never knew I wanted.

OH GOD we’re back with these guys. incoming angst for my best boys. oh no. but also oh yes. oh no but also oh yes.

Yeah like I said, torn on this chapter. On the one hand, I wanted Mina to kick ass, for Majestic to be a girl, and to get more Momo is the Best antics. But I also want character development, and Kirimina feels, which I did get. Mina finally gets to be in the spotlight and have the arc with Kirishima get some development, which I wanted. So yes. And I do want more of my Best Boys, but I’m also terrified of what’s gonna happen to them next chapter. These last few chapters were a nice break from the “our two leads fight the big bad” intensity of this fight but next week it’s back on again oh god what’s coming...

Outside Chance - Ch 19 SSS

A little late, but here ya go. No idea when it’ll be done. I’m making progress but it’s slow going. Lots of dialogue and transitions and bah.

Any chance you’ve got wi-fi now?

I glance up at Madge sprawled on her bed and paging through a magazine. She’s got her headphones in and is bouncing her foot, but I’d prefer not to have conversations with Peeta and an audience.

Yep. Just give me a second.

I stand and Madge’s head pops up, she tugs out an earbud as I slip my feet into some shoes.

“Phone home,” I say and she smiles.

“Your sister?”

“Uh...no. Not this time,” I say and then slip out before she can ask anymore. I find a quiet corner and sit on the floor, wait for the FaceTime app to connect and relax at the sight of Peeta’s smiling face.

“Hey, beautiful,” he says. “Good to see your eyes again.”

“You too,” I say, amazed at his ability to make me blush even after all this time. We catch up for a few minutes, but eventually, Peeta gets exasperated with the multiple interruptions on his end. I can tell from the wall behind him that he’s in The Locker today.

“It’s like they hold everything in and wait until I’m about to leave to deal with it. I think I need a Do Not Disturb sign,” he says after the fifth interruption. “Or a door.”

“That could be useful. Especially on more stressful days,” I say and he pauses, one eyebrow quirking up. But before I can take this where my keyed up body wants to go, someone else pokes their head in needing something from Peeta and he sighs before he apologizes to me. Again.

I bite my tongue to keep from yelling at the intruder that this is a phone call from fucking Sweden and they need to back away slowly before I lose it. When Peeta’s done with them, he returns his focus to me and gives me a quick pep talk for the next few days. He’s getting on a plane himself soon, headed to Finland.

“Be safe, okay?” I say when it comes up.

“I will. At least the time difference won’t be as bad for a few days while I’m on that side of the planet too,” he says with a smile.

“We’ll have to take advantage.”

“We will. You should get some sleep now, though.”
