(aka More Rambling DA Head Canon...also, SPOILERS!)
haha...oh gods...just imagining Samson living his best life in the abandoned Gallows (it’s free real estate!), alone, high on his new endless supply of lyrium (that creepy guy was right about the red stuff), trying not to think about Maddox and how he ruined that kid’s life or Cullen and his stupid handsome face...
then he hears her...that bitch Meredith
and he’s not sure if it’s just the lyrium or if it’s actually her ghost or some shit
but it nearly scares him straight. not really. but definitely straight outta Kirkwall at least
he grabs what’s left of her sword as a revenge souvenir (she can’t haunt metal, can she?), tracks down Maddox to reforge it for him (and exorcise it, just in case), and recruits a few disgruntled former Templars who don’t like the new direction Cullen’s trying to take the Order under the influence of that hippy-dippy Seeker from Orlais...
the rest is history (fake fantasy world history), baby!
Random Head Canon: Samson Meets Anders (and Justice)
Brain has the zoomies lately. Apologies. But I totally gotta find a way to work this into the disaster Templar fic I abandoned more than a year ago because writing it was breaking my heart:
Isabela gets Anders a job working as an undercover bouncer-type at the Blooming Rose when he first gets to Kirkwall (it doesn’t last long, cuz...well...he’s not very good at being low-key about anything, and it only takes one slip up to reveal that you’re a mage and/or possessed by a spirit of justice to the wrong client, and anyway, he gets his clinic setup and he’s much happier doing that). But for a brief period of time, when patrons are making people uncomfortable, the barmaid slips him a note with a few details and lets him get to work -- flirting, escorting them out, roughing them up if need be...whatever.
Samson, newly discharged from the Templars, shows up drunk and ranting one night, and the barmaid slips Anders a note that says “Templar” and Justice is totally ready to get him (Anders is also super interested in getting any info he can about Karl). Anders does his flirty thing and tries to lure him out of the brothel, but Samson is completely oblivious (dude just wants another drink cuz he’s been cut off lyrium and he’s been thrown out of every other establishment), and Justice is ready to just drag him out and kick his ass, when Samson finally realizes what he’s looking at (there’ve been rumors around the Gallows I guess, that a dangerous apostate abomination has his sights set on Kirkwall...) and is like “I can help you get into the Gallows!” And Anders wrestles Justice back like, “Hubba-wha?!”
And a beautiful partnership forms between them.
That’s it. None of the rest of DA2 even happens. Hawke who? Samson gets his revenge on Meredith by helping the Mage Underground liberate the Circle and Anders gets Karl and they all live happily ever after. The End.
What’s your favourite piece of dialogue you wrote this year - from the end of year fic writer ask meme please
Shit...this shouldn’t be such a hard question, should it, for someone who writes pretty much only dialogue?
This hasn’t been published on AO3 yet (but I have posted it here on tumblr in a WIP meme), because the fic it goes in is on semi-hiatus until I can do it justice (it’s a dark one and I’ve been having more fun writing weird and fluffy crackfic lately), but as someone who normally writes a LOT of silly banter, I was particularly proud of the venom I managed to shove into this (though, to be fair, these two just sort of come that way)!
Under a cut because language and content (a mage apprentice (Maddox) is about to be made Tranquil)...
“This mage poses too great a risk to the Order,” Meredith declared, looming over the young apprentice as he kneeled in lyrium-etched shackles before her, his head hung low while he awaited his fate in silent resignation. Not that he had much of a choice. “There must be consequences for his manipulation and the subsequent corruption of one of our own.”
“He never ‘manipulated’ me, you bitch! He’s just a kid…wanted to tell his girl he loved her,” Samson growled. “A thing you’d never understand…”
“Silence! You are a disgrace, in violation of your vows. You will be stripped of your title and removed from the Order. Something that should’ve been done a long time ago, you pathetic reprobate.”
“Fuck your vows!” he shouted, pulling hard against the other two Templars who had been ordered to restrain him. “They pump us so full of lyrium I don’t see how anyone could be expected to remember them!”
Meredith nodded at his captors, and one of them slammed a gauntleted fist into Samson’s stomach, causing him to keel over in agony.
“Don’t overdo it. I still want him to be conscious to witness this.”
@kunstpause tagged me for today. <3 I’ll tag @parera-zuul-jar, @serial-chillr, @elveny, @funkypoacher, @lostinfantasies38, @pinkfadespirit, @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold, and anyone else who wants to share something!
I’m currently staring at this disaster Templar fic for the first time in awhile...someday, I might finish tidying up and editing the next few chapters of In Violation. But basically, Ser Agatha has been assigned babysitting duty by the resistance...
“How old are you, Ser Cullen?” Agatha asked the newly-arrived officer, with a condescending smirk.
The young knight tried to hide his mortified blush behind what he really hoped looked more like indignation. “I beg your pardon?”
There were a few murmured snickers from the men eavesdropping around the hall as they lingered after Meredith’s introduction to get a good look at the man she had all-but-declared her new Knight-Captain. According to the Knight-Commander’s effusive report, he had not only saved Kinloch Hold from a horde of blood mages during the Blight in spite of the interfering “Hero of Ferelden,” an upstart from Orzammar, but also done far more to protect the people of Ferelden by hunting down several dangerous apostates in the time since. By the time she’d finished singing his praises, he looked utterly miserable. It was a perfect opportunity for Agatha to make her move.
Slacking on tags (and everything else!), but I think in the past week (and then some), @serial-chillr, @kunstpause, @dafan7711, @sarenkascrawls, @charlatron, @elveny, @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold, @cornfedcryptid, and @a-productive-manor have tagged me in some kind of WIP thing or other. Thank you to all of you for giving me an excuse to share! I’m tagging you all back for this week, along with @funkypoacher, @theaiobhan, @thelittlestfische, @barbex, @lostinfantasies38, @scythe-hag, @paraparadigm, @whatsherfacewrites, @midnightprelude, @grumpkinvicky, @kittimau, @eranehn, @kemvee, @factorykat, @curiousartemis, @jarebear20, @johaeryslavellan, @tryvyalsynnes, and @hermiowngranger for some snippet-sharing if you got ‘em (and if you don’t, that’s fine, too)! That goes for anyone else who sees this and wants to share. Always. Tag me so I can see it in spite of tumblr’s shitty algorithms (”top posts” was mysteriously back on after the update...ugh!).
I’ve been struggling with the next part of my disaster Templar fic, In Violation, for...a long time, but was feeling the darkness last night (been watching A LOT of My Little Pony during the day with the spawn). So here’s a super intense flashback to the day Meredith had Maddox made Tranquil for writing notes to his girlfriend and Ser Agatha finally realized just how effed Kirkwall was...(there are bad words, so I put it under a cut).
“This mage poses too great a risk to the Order,” Meredith declared, looming over the young apprentice as he kneeled in lyrium-etched chains before her, his head hung low while he awaited his fate in resigned silence. “There must be consequences for his manipulation and the subsequent corruption of one of our own.”
“He never ‘manipulated’ me, you bitch! He’s just a kid...wanted to tell his girl he loved her,” Samson growled. “Something you’d never understand…”
Meredith nodded at his captors, and one of them slammed a gauntleted fist into Samson’s stomach, causing him to keel over in silent agony.
“Don’t overdo it. I want him to be conscious to witness this.”
19. What words do you think you tend to use the most?
Three people asked me this! Are yall trying to tell me something? (I answered this one here)
34. Have you felt emotional while writing a scene before? What scene was it?
Oh my gosh...if it it doesn’t make me emotional, why bother writing it? I cry very easily over fictional angst of any kind. If it has parental strife, unspoken feelings, unexpected tenderness, repaired relationships/healing, loss, regret...basically anything more than just, IDK, someone taking out the garbage (unless, of course, the garbage is a metaphor or there’s something very sentimental in the garbage), I get emotional. I cried a lot while writing the beginning of In Violation, which jumps back and forth between Ser Agatha’s past relationship with Orsino and the end of DA2, and this passage I remember being particularly emotional about.
