“I don’t think you understand.”
Copia, having stripped off his vest minutes ago, the constricting fabric threatening to to CRUSH his lungs with its weight...a weight that isn’t his, throws the offending thing down onto the side table. SHE CAN’T IGNORE HIM.
“Midlife?” Copia turns, one hand cupping the back of his neck as if he could hide or STOP the perspiration gathering there. The glance thrown in Imperator’s direction is brief as he choses to pace away instead, staving off another outburst that is sure to come. Why does she do this? Sit there like that and pretend that everything is FINE. In fact, he can see her in another light...see her through tears in the eyes of a young boy as she smokes, her own gaze always somewhere else. With a clench of his jaw, teeth aching with the pressure, Copia realizes he looks much the same as well. Just taller. It’s this thought that pushes Papa over the edge and his foot into the side of a garden chair. The clang as the furniture topples startles him. He hopes it’s enough to get her attention.
“FUCK THE SIGNING!” Copia adds, yelling, pointing a this mother. “I can’t take it anymore. It’s all a LIE. A miserable fucking lie.”
