Today in Japan marks the 30th anniversary of my favorite live performance of all time: Incapacitants Live in Tajima! August, 25, 2021.
T. Mikawa emailed me this a few years ago:
“It was at the Tajima Performance Festival on 25th, August, 1991. Among the members of executive committee of that festival, there were Mayuko Hino of C.C.C.C. and Masami Akita aka Merzbow, who made noise musicians such as Monde Bruits, Solmania in addition to C.C.C.C., Merzbow and Incapacitants perform there. I can't clearly remember, but probably a video on "Oh! Moro" is the part of YouTube performance. On the other hand, "Good Morning, Tajima" was recorded very early in the morning on the same day. We were told to do live performance as real part, but actually it was a rehearsal or sound check. We didn't regards it as rehearsal until we finished. So, in that sense, we performed twice at that day. The festival was held at an abolished school deep in the mountain in Fukushima prefecture. I don't know from where we could get the electricity, but I guess there were some gasoline engine generators.”
