Sinnergod featuring Blaze Bayley Support from Incassum Grand Central Manchester 30th August 2012 Thursday night at Grand Central showcases some of best metal bands around, from here in Manchester and other neighbouring places. However, this night was extra special, as Manchester’s favourite goths Sinnergod were performing with ex Iron Maiden front man and absolute legend Blaze Bayley. The boys from Wigan have just filmed their video for It’s A Wonderful Life with Blaze, and tonight was the night to unveil the single. Grand Central was packed to the rafters in anticipation of what was inevitably going to be an amazing night. Before Sinnergod and Blaze were unleashed on to the stage, the crowd was treated to a set from Manchester based metallers Incassum. From their opening song Incassum exerted their dominant stage presence from the get go. With some serous hair swishing (and I mean that in the most metal way possible) they really came out all guns blazing. Lead vocalist and front woman Sharleen Kennedy is absolutely stunning to watch and her vocal ability is incredible, combining soft melodies with a metal roar, it just works so well. Incassum played songs from a new album that is set for release in November, as well as an outstanding cover of Iron Maiden’s Fear of The Dark. A really impressive set from Incassum, received well by the increasing Grand Central crowd. Dressed as always head to toe in black, the Sinnergod boys graced the stage, while the crowd shuffled as far to the front as they could. There was a real buzz in the room, from both the audience and Sinnergod, obviously a special night for everyone. Their performance was so dynamic and they played with such precision, it brought all the songs we know and love to life. The set list was jam packed with Sinnergod classics, to a name a few, Secret Place, A Lovely Day To Die, A World In Grey and my personal favourite Waking Up The Neighbours. Mark seemed surprised that no one had shouted out Bang Your Dead yet, before breaking into the Sinnergod fan favourite. After a mind blowing performance by Sinnergod they introduced their special guest, the one and only Blaze Bayley. He enthusiastically came on to the stage, sporting the army style headgear he wore for their recent video shoot. Blaze seemed genuinely really chuffed to be there and to be playing with the Sinnergod boys, who eagerly approached him to sing on their latest single It’s A Wonderful Life. Let me tell you, what an incredible single it is! The vocals of Blaze and Mark work so well together, the song is surely destined for greatness. There is a teaser for the video available on YouTube right now, with the full release of the video and single set for release in the near future. Blaze accompanied by Sinnergod then went on to perform a song from Blaze Bayley’s solo album. Then much to the delight of the crowd they played two Iron Maiden songs, 2am and Man On The Edge from the album The XFactor and it went down an absolute storm! The union of Sinnergod and Blaze Bayley was phenomenal and I really hope the single with Blaze takes Sinnergod to the top, where they should and deserve to be. I regularly go to Grand Central on a Thursday night for my weekly dose of metal, but this night really stood out for me. It was also nice to see so many people in attendance, demonstrating how the metal scene is very much alive at the moment. Manchester Rocks are huge fans of Sinnergod, they really bring something different to the world of rock and we wish them and Blaze Bayley the best of luck with It’s A Wonderful Life.
