Alte Eisfabrik, Köpenicker Straße, Friedrichshain, Berlin
The old ice factory - as in, ice meant to keep antique freezers working, not ice cream- was one of the two last ones still producing -well - blocks of ice in Berlin. The other one supposedly was in Köpenick. It's clear why they weren't needed anymore, and as with many old buildings, there's been an ongoing, year long struggle around the future of the building and the ground it stands on.
