With a huge assist from Mother Nature the PR streak for this race is preserved for another year. Another kick-to-the-end finish to make my sub-1:50 goal too! Oh and Meb gave me a high five just before the 10k mats!

Last minute race signup this morning. Splits were kind of all over the place, ranging from 7:55 to 8:39. Overall though it felt good to race again (but that stretch from mile 7 to 9, ugh!) Turns out this was the first official 10 mile race for me, so it's a default PR. Next race is a Sprint Tri in 3 weeks!
Long run today was 10mi. For various reasons I decided to go pretty hard as I search for a reasonable race pace target for the Indy Mini (13.1) which is in May. I tried some candidate paces, but settled into 8:30 which felt pretty good. I was only able to hold that and stay under my LTHR for about 7 miles. I know I can suffer out the last 5K above threshold, but probably not 10K.
The good news though is I still have another 2 months to add some more fitness!
The bad news for this run is that I was also breaking in some new shoes (I had only put about 4 treadmill miles on them) and this was a mistake. I ended up with a blister, which tore, and my foot was bleeding in my sock. I’ve never had ANY foot issues like this with any of my other Altra’s so it took me by surprise. I guess its lucky that the footbed is red so you can’t see the blood stains?
Huge effort in Indy to get everything reopened and cleaned up after the mini. They are already gearing up for next year. Sharing the Beauty in Indy.
