does anyone else think about the possibility of BOTB rewarding alcoholism in the story 🤔 like hear me out (spoilers under the cut)
first week the two bands that have to face off end up being missing in action and young and reckless or whatever they were called right. triple puts missing in action in the bottom two because he has a drinking problem and got way too turnt the night before and was subsequently very hungover and kinda performed like shit. missing in action faces off against young and reckless which is (if i recall correctly) made up of ppl 18-20 and they end up going home. cory makes a comment about how they weren’t going to last very long because they’re too young and maybe im crazy but if u zoom out it feels like maybe a larger commentary on how the industry rewards substance abuse
triple gets drunk -> performs badly -> ends up in bottom two along with a band made up of ppl below the legal drinking age -> MIA wins the face off even tho triple is still performing super hungover -> cory makes the comment about young and reckless being too young
like does it not seem that botb removed young and reckless for not being able to drink in the group setting (in a way punishing them bc it costs them their spot on the show and a major career opportunity) and in turn lets missing in action stay after they just saw the effect triples alcohol abuse can and likely will have on his future performances and work ethic (in a way rewarding the substance abuse with more time on the show and more opportunity in the industry)
