Hidden Spiritual Gifts, Inheritance Magazine #34
I got to illustrate an article by my real-life friend Crystal! It talks about her experience of feeling like she had no spiritual gifts because she felt that encouragement, service, and teaching were all not for her. Later though, as she began to develop her cooking skill for different reasons, she found that cooking was a way she could serve God and bring people together.
I took this story and translated it into a circus setting because circuses performers are fun to draw! So here we have the story of a concession worker who at first is sad about not having stage talent but later learns that her food talents are appreciated by everyone. Read the whole article here!
Thanks EIC Daniel and AD John!

The Sex Factor
The Sex Factor: It's the issue we're all bound to run into sooner or later. That's the theme for the September Issue of INHERITANCE Magazine. I thought long and hard about posting this because recently, my blog has been visited by a growing number of visitors -- people that don't know me personally. If you're one of those people, I just wanted to say thanks for stopping by. However, I'm going to continue posting random things so you'll have to put up with it. Sorries. ^^''
This magazine isn't that well known since it's a little over a year old. It's okay, I wasn't familiar with it either until the beginning of this fall. I actually found out that I personally know a couple of people who often contribute their work to this growing ministry. It's actually a magazine specifically for Asian American Christians but it's really written for almost anybody. I love the issues addressed and I definitely love how ANYBODY can submit their own ideas and thoughts. It's a magazine for everyday Christians written by everyday Christians. Anyway, the theme for this particular issue immediately caught my eye. Wanna know why? It's because it deals with an issue that I often deal with in my own life: The topic of purity.
(NOTE: Below, I've also attached links to different articles from this issue alone so you can read it for yourself. It's not just addressed to men but written TO both genders BY both sexes. Please remember that these writers have opened up parts of their pasts for scrutinization. They are your brothers and sisters in Christ so don't easily cast judgment.)
Before I post the links to the articles, I just wanted to say that I'm not too comfortable sharing my own struggles with purity online just yet. It's because it's still too recent and there will probably never be a day when I won't struggle with lust. It's like an ongoing spiritual battle. Here, I'm not talking about lustful acts but lustful thoughts of the heart. It's quite ironic that I happened to pick up this magazine this month. I had read the previous issues but this latest issue opened up my eyes more to current problems within the Church and society as well. The Church often doesn't like to mention sex. When mentioned, it's usually extremely awkward and people don't want to talk about it. That's a problem, especially since lust and sexual immorality are eminent in our current society.
Some of the testimonies are a bit graphic so reader discretion is advised for younger ones. One thing that I didn't find as I was reading these articles was how these individuals were able to overcome lust. Some really only scratched the surface of the issue at hand but all were very insightful. You'd think that Christians would be immune to lust, since we so often point fingers at non-Christians for their immoral acts. Yet we're so very hypocritical. All of us are sinners; no one is greater than another. So we're really just like normal people who are often tempted but lead a double life.
Anyways, enough babbling. Here's what you were probably looking for. You could actually read everything at Inheritance Magazine's official website but I made it easier for you by linking you to the articles that address specifically sex and purity. I do think that the Church needs to bring up this topic more often. Christians need to be aware of this issue and be prepared for future temptations.
