What-A-Mess (1993)
"We are all filled with a longing for the wild. There are few culturally sanctioned antidotes for this yearning. We were taught to feel shame for such a desire. We grew our hair long and used it to hide our feelings. But the shadow of Wild Woman still lurks behind us during our days and in our nights. No matter where we are, the shadow that trots behind us is definitely four-footed."
- Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
Bought Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for myself last Christmas and just got around to starting it (finally).. holy hell I’m hooked. I knew Vikings and Norse mythology was likely to be my favorite due to my own beliefs and personality but I underestimated how badass it is. Honor, bloodshed, hand-to-hand combat, tattoos, wolves in the forest, stables full of horses. If that wasn’t enough.. I knew I was hooked from the moment that the protagonist was christened “Wolf-Kissed”.
Every damn day I am faced with a choice... which one do I feed?
Listening to this while I write gives me the feels :)
“I am death or life.I am salvation or destruction. Angel or demon. I am grace. I plunge in the knife. This is my sacrifice -- I am the monster.”
― Bree Despain, The Dark Divine
“Remember, you only need to look at the moon and listen to what your inner wolf is trying to say. It’s in there. It’s always in there.”
- Amelia Novalic, A Shade of Vampire 69: A Birth of Fire (pp. 37-38).
