This photo of an abandoned South Korean child, left behind after the Incheon invasion, shows the brutal nature of war on the civilian population. The Korean War has often been referred to as the "Forgotten War" or the "Unknown War" because it came on the heels of World War II and was overshadowed by the Vietnam War. Because the Korean War only lasted three years, it is not thought of as significant and often goes unmentioned in classrooms and textbooks.
