Since I had to answer all of those questions, thanks to you. I think it's only fair that you answer all those questions too >:3
I’ve never received one of these asks I’m so delighted! Thank you ever so much! Okay, here goes:
My no 1 fear is dying without feeling I’ve contributed anything to the world, but I also fear heights and goldfish (don’t ask)
Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3
Intelligence, not in terms of academics necessarily. I just love being able to have an intelligent conversation with someone every so often. I love discussing big questions- life, death, aliens, what it means to be human etc.
Genuine smile- I tend to me quite tentative around people so when someone smiles when they’re around me I definitely feel a lot more comfortable, and pleased that they like me.
Dark skin. I find dark skin absolutely beautiful. This includes pretty much any non-white ethnicity however I find black people in particular to be gorgeous.
Passion. Not romantic passion, but more when someone has something they’re really passionate about. The kind of thing when their eyes light up when they talk about it, and they could discuss forever. That’s just the cutest damn thing.
Ignorance, moreover when rejecting or not bothering to learn something important.
Use of slurs, I just find it very unnecessary and horrible.
A poor attitude to people in general. I’m not talking about being unwilling to be around others, because as an introvert I totally understand that- I mean people who don’t treat others with respect, or consider themselves to be better than others. A feeling of superiority is something I find deeply unattractive.
Selfishness. I don’t think I need to explain this one.
Despite generally not enjoying the company of males, my best friend is a guy called Jack. We might not agree on everything, but he’s someone I can always be myself around. I’m actually planning to share a flat with him when I start going to university!
I’m a little tentative to answer this one, because I know some people IRL who follow me so if you want to know just ask me and I’ll answer you privately.
I haven’t got much experience in the romance department so I can’t exactly answer this.
5 foot 4. I wish I was taller. Being short is cute and all, but tall girls are goddesses. I’d love to be that.
I miss being excited for stuff. I don’t really get that anymore.
12: What time were I born
Nope. I’m currently romancing Garrus from Mass Effect and he is a cutie, but I ship him with Shepard, not myself.
“We are only here briefly, and in this moment I want to allow myself joy.” That’s from Her, my favourite film ever.
My local sci fi convention. It’s pretty small but it’s brilliant. I don’t express my love for nerdy things in real life a lot nor do I know many people who share my love for them, so when I’m standing in a room full of people like me who love the same things I do… there’s something amazing about that.
I’m not sure I have one. I don’t like food too much.
Rarely. More so on the internet than in real life.
19: What am I listening to right now
The hum of my laptop and the ticking of the clock and someone next door is playing the drums. Ambient noise, really. I like that.
20: First thing I notice in a new person
Their body language- I’m quiet, so I’ve learned to understand movement well. You can tell a lot about how a person feels about another by how they look at them.
I’m a UK size 4, which is quite small.
Light blue, I think my eyes are my best feature.
Blonde-ginger. What colour it looks depends on the lighting.
24: Favourite style of clothing
I tend to just wear a t shirt and jeans but I think any look which is unconventional is great. I love seeing people wearing clothes like that, because it suggests they’re happy with themselves and their style, and that’s a very nice thing. Everyone deserves that, really. I do think the 1950s Audrey Hepburn style dresses in particular are lovely.
25: Ever done a prank call?
Once at my aforementioned friend Jack’s birthday party. Someone was recording and someone made a strange noise and so we called my friend Alice’s boyfriend of the time and played the noise and hung up. It was pretty great.
27: Meaning behind my URL
Well paradoxical was taken, and I like robots sooo…
Like I mentioned earlier- Her. It’s a beautiful film about love and the complexity about other people. It’s a film that has a lot to say, and it says it well.
The Harbinger remix of Baby by Justin Bieber. It makes me smile every time I hear it.
I don’t believe I have one. I’m not really into bands.
I’m not feeling anything right now- not happy, not sad, just… neutral I guess. I’ve had a crap few days, so it’s nice to feel a little better.
I don’t know if I love anyone really. I love my family in a family way, and I love my friends in a platonic way. I don’t think that’s quite love though. Not in a sense I consider it. Like, while I love my family and friends they’re not people I want to share my life with. Perhaps that’s selfish of me, but I do believe in love. I just don’t think it’s something I’ve experienced yet.
33: My current relationship status
Single, and fine with that. I doubt I’d have time for a relationship right now. I’ve got some other stuff going on.
34: My relationship with my parents
I get on with my mother far more than I used to, and I haven’t seen my father in 2 years, but I’m fine with that. We never got on.
Christmas. While I don’t celebrate it in the religious sense I do love getting and giving presents.
36: Tattoos and piercings I have
A single piercing in each lower lobe.
37: Tattoos and piercings I want
I don’t want any more piercings, but I’d love to have the Paragon and Renegade symbols on my arms. I’d also love to get angel wings on my back, and maybe a lightsaber somewhere. I love tattoos, even if they have no meaning they’re gorgeous. I love the idea of using your body as a canvas.
38: The reason I joined Tumblr
My friend had it, so I thought I may as well get it. I’m glad I did.
39: Do I and my last ex hate each other?
Haha no. My last ex was a guy I “dated” when I was 12. He never talked to me for 3 months after we decided we were going out, and I wasn’t having it. I broke up over text. 12 year old me was savagel!
40: Do I ever get “good morning” or “good night ” texts?
41: Have I ever kissed the last person you texted?
Er, no. The only person I’ve kissed in a non-platonic way was the guy I “dated” when I was 12 and you can bet your left boob I don’t talk to him anymore.
42: When did I last hold hands?
43: How long does it take me to get ready in the morning?
30 minutes? It depends on how terrible my hair decides to be. Makeup takes about 25 minutes, and I don’t spend that long on my hair.
44: Have you shaved your legs in the past three days?
I haven’t shaved my legs in the past year.
45: Where am I right now?
Laid in bed, with my laptop on my lap. It’s a good life.
46: If I were drunk and couldn’t stand, who’s taking care of me?
I don’t drink. I tried it once and concluded it was overrated.
47: Do I like my music loud or at a reasonable level?
A reasonable level and through headphones. I’m prone to sensory overloads and I’m sensitive to noise, which is a combination that annoys both myself and everyone around me.
48: Do I live with my Mom and Dad?
I live with my mother, grandma and little brother.
49: Am I excited for anything?
I’m looking forward to Mass Effect: Andromeda, but I don’t really get excited about anything.
50: Do I have someone of the opposite sex I can tell everything to?
Like I said earlier- Jack. Honestly though, I’m very open so I can tell most people most things. There are some things I can’t discuss with anyone ever, but it’s more because I don’t like talking about them for my own reasons than the fault of anyone else.
51: How often do I wear a fake smile?
52: When was the last time I hugged someone?
I think my mum hugged me this morning, I was upset last night so she wanted to check I was okay.
53: What if the last person I kissed was kissing someone else right in front of me?
I’d pity whoever was on the receiving end.
54: Is there anyone I trust even though I should not?
Yep. I trust everyone, something that has backfired on me many times. I like to think the best of people, y’know.
55: What is something I disliked about today?
Well I’ve only been up for about 5 hours so not much has happened yet.
56: If I could meet anyone on this earth, who would it be?
I’d love to meet Chris Stuckmann. He’s a film critic on YouTube and I just think he seems like a great guy in general.
57: What do I think about most?
Mass Effect- it’s like my default thought X)
58: What’s my strangest talent?
I don’t have any. My talents are pretty regular.
59: Do I have any strange phobias?
60: Do I prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?
Behind it. I’m a next level of not photogenic.
61: What was the last lie I told?
A guy from my school came by house today and he asked where I was and I said I was out when in reality I was in, he just scares me so I didn’t want to hang out.
62: Do I prefer talking on the phone or video chatting online?
Neither. I’m too awkward for both.
63: Do I believe in ghosts? How about aliens?
Ghosts, no. Aliens. YES. SO MUCH YES. I actually want to be an astronomer when I’m older and work on trying to find extraterrestrials, that’s how passionate I am about it. If anyone would like to talk about aliens with me message me please! I LOVE aliens.
64: Do I believe in magic?
Not in the sense that it’s some kind of mystical force. However I think it’s reasonable to say that some organic being might have control over certain elements or compounds.
65: Do I believe in luck?
Not really. Every event has a probability. If someone’s on the receiving end of some unfortunate probabilities then that’s unfortunate, but that has nothing to do with luck.
66: What’s the weather like right now?
A lot of cloud cover and slightly chilly. We really get into the spirit of summer over here in the UK.
67: What was the last book I’ve read?
The Shadow Hero by Gene Luen Yang.
68: Do I like the smell of gasoline?
Ew no. I love the smell of cigarettes though, weirdly.
69: Do I have any nicknames?
Some of my friends call me Madeleine-beanie. Dunno why.
70: What was the worst injury I’ve ever had?
I ripped the tendon in my thumb and it really hurt.
71: Do I spend money or save it?
Spend. I’m awful at saving .-.
72: Can I touch my nose with a tongue?
Do I look like a snake to you?
73: Is there anything pink in 10 feet from me?
My laptop, who is called Henry. Hell yeah he’s pink. Screw gender roles.
I love cows, cows are cute af.
75: What was I doing last night at 12 AM?
Scrolling Tumblr, probably.
76: What do I think is Satan’s last name is?
The person at Bioware who decided on not giving Mass Effect 3 a happy ending… What the hell, unnamed employee?
77: What’s a song that always makes me happy when I hear it?
Like I said before, Harbinger remix of Baby by Justin Bieber. I may or may not know all the words .-.
78: How can you win my heart?
2. Fangirl about it with me.
79: What would I want to be written on my tombstone?
“Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honour matters” some people would be like “wow, that’s deep” and others, others would know.
80: What is my favourite word?
81: My top 5 blogs on Tumblr
All the Mass Effect ones I follow. I couldn’t pick only 5 out of them, they’re all so great.
82: If the whole world were listening to me right now, what would I say?
“Femshep is the best Shep.”
83: Do I have any relatives in jail?
Not that I’m aware of. I do have a very closed off family though. My dad’s side of the family is kinda insane. My aunty set her house on fire. She’s not in jail though.
84: I accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what’s even cooler is that they endow me with the super-power of my choice! What is that power?
MIND CONTROL. I’d turn humanity into a hivemind with the sole purpose of finding extraterrestrial life. Aside from healthcare, education etc all funds would go to space organisations and then when the aliens arrived I’d introduce myself as the Queen of Earth then I’d let humanity spread across the galaxy without my intervention unless they were harming someone or something. I’d mind control the aliens to develop an ability to live forever, then I’d rule the galaxy for billions of years in a space palace.
Yes, I have thought about this sort of stuff, a lot.
85: What would be a question I’d be afraid to tell the truth on?
I’m not sure. I’m a pretty open person.
86: What is my current desktop picture?
It’s the milky way on a clear night with no air pollution, which is how the sky should be.
In a friend way, like on the cheek.
93: Have I ever kissed somebody in the rain?
That sounds both soggy and uncomfortable.
I applied but never got it.
95: Left the house without my wallet?
96: Bullied someone on the internet?
No! I don’t understand why people do that.
98: Played on a sports team?
I don’t like sports, so no.
Once, at a friend’s birthday party. I’m a philosophical drunk, it turns out. I didn’t like it much though. I don’t think I’ll do it again.
103: Am I a vegetarian/vegan?
I’ve been vegetarian for 8 months and counting. Can’t see myself ever turning back to eating meat.
No, but I’ve been losing a lot of weight lately (not intentionally)so it looks like I’m going that way :(
I think I went to my dad’s friend’s wedding when I was about six and I vaguely recall going outside during the ceremony because I was bored and eating an intense amount of cake.
107: Been on the computer for 5 hours straight?
108: Watched TV for 5 hours straight?
I watched all of series 1 of Skins in one sitting. Likewise with Parks and Recreation season 2.
109: Been outside my home country?
Many times. I don’t much like going on holiday though. There’s too many people in tourist-y destinations, it makes me nervous.
110: Gotten my heart broken?
Well I finished Mass Effect 3, so yeah.
111: Been to a professional sports game?
I broke my arm when I was nine because I fell in a hole :(
Yes. Stopping doing that is the best thing I’ve ever done.
No. I don’t want to go to prom- seems like a very expensive thing for something I doubt I’d actually enjoy.
115: Been in an aeroplane?
Yes, 3 times now (not including the return journey)
116: Flown by helicopter?
117: What concerts have I been to?
I’ve never been to a concert. I don’t like loud noises, like I said.
118: Had a crush on someone of the same sex?
I think most people have, at some point.
119: Learned another language?
No, I’d love to be fluent in French though. I only know a bit.
I do whenever I leave the house. I wear foundation, powder, eyebrow pencil, mascara and lipstick. *whispers* I do like makeup quite a lot.
121: Lost my virginity before I was 18?
I HAVEN’T HAD SEX, GOOD GRIEF.
I dip-dyed my hair violet and within 3 days my hair had literally absorbed the colour and it was back to normal. I shit you not.
124: Voted in a presidential election?
I’m not old enough to vote.
125: Rode in an ambulance?
Never. I hope I never have to.
I’ve met a lot of children’s authors because my mother used to organise our town literature festival.
128: Stalked someone on a social network?
Yep. Funny story actually. I’d been round to my friend’s house for a sleepover and when I came back my family were out. I told my friend’s parents that they were just opening the back door and it was fine for them to leave, because I’m awkward like that. So I really needed to pee and I didn’t have a key to the house. I finally realised it was either pee in the garden or pee myself. I chose the former, and removed my jeans and pants so I wouldn’t pee on them. I found an area of the garden where no one could see me and began. Then, the worst thing happened. The car pulled in- my family’s car. Just for reference, I was holding my jeans and pants in one hand and the only thing I was wearing from the waist down was my sandals. So I sprinted across the path, to the garage and quickly flung on my jeans. To this day, I don’t know if my next door neighbours saw me as I ran to the garage, but I really hope not.
No. I don’t really understand how fishing is enjoyable. Like, you killed a fish that was just minding its own business. Good for you.
131: Helped with charity?
Yeah, I’ve baked for bake sales, been to fundraisers, attended a stall at a fundraiser. I swam 1km when I was 11 for charity.
132: Been rejected by a crush?
Yes. I sent an anonymous Valentine’s Day card to a guy I liked when I was 11, who I’d had a crush on for about 6 months. Everyone knew it was me who sent the card, and someone asked him the day after what he did with it and he said he put it in the bin and I overheard and I cried in the bathroom for the entirety of lunchtime.
Yeah, once I threw a hairbrush at it when I was upset and it smashed :/
134: What do I want for my birthday?
I’d love to get some graphic novels, an N7 shirt and a Normandy Sr-2 replica.
