a smile played across regina’s lips as she looked down at the little girl. her smiles always came naturally with her children. her heart always warmed to see them happy and enjoying their lives. “how was your day at school, sweetheart?” it had quickly become one of the questions regina first asked once getting home from work — because, hearing about whatever joyful thing she and henry did in class always made her feel better about her days.

the girl was so young , esme had mixed feelings on the girl’s transformation . she was so young , she had so much ahead of her . how had things managed to go so horribly wrong ? it made her soul ache when she heard the fate of the young girl , though she had never met her before . the girl had woken up , that much esme was aware of , but she wasn’t entirely sure how she was accepting her new vampirism lifestyle . softly , out of courtesy , esme knocked on the door to the room where the girl was .

❝       hello .       ❞     she said softly , as she silently appeared in the doorway , giving the girl space to decide if she wanted her any closer or not .          ❝     i’m esme , dr . cullen’s wife , and i’d like to welcome you to our home .  ❞ it had been quite a long time since she had to introduce herself to a new vampire , who had been changed at the last minute to save their life . it hasn’t happened since emmett , and she had never thought it would happen again . but she was welcoming the young girl into her life with ease and grace .

❝   i’m sorry we had to meet in this manner , but i do hope we can grow to think well of one another . to think of each other as family .  ❞   she stayed hovering near the door , her golden eyes delivering a warm look to the young girl . she desperately hoped the girl could find happiness in this new life , even if she chose not to stay with them . ❝     i know carlisle explained to you what happened , but if you have any other questions , or want to talk about anything at all , please don’t be afraid to come to me .     ❞
