The morning passed in blessed quiet, with only two regulars coming by for tasks that Kore could accomplish in her sleep. It gave her the time to work on a few custom projects that had gone neglected over the past several weeks. It was nice, if boring, the life that Kore had led over the last decade and a half. Their magic flickers at their fingertips, present yet somehow distant, and it makes them wonder if this is really all there is to life.

Fortunately, she's granted reprieve from that morbid train of thought when someone enters the shop. In a city like Port Leiry and its inhabitants, she's run into her share of celebrities and individuals who had their own brush with fame. Some were there to check out the local culture, while others lived among them. Somehow Natasha Kassin looked smaller in person than her photos made her seem, but Kore could see how her energy might fill an entire venue.

"Welcome to KM Jewelry Repair. How can I help you, Ms. Kassin?" She pauses and gives a sheepish smile."Sorry, I'm a fan so just want to get that out of the way instead of pretending I don't know who you are and making it awkward for everyone."

''Sweet? I much prefer sour, but you can't know everything, so you're forgiven,'' it was her attempt at a joke - a bad one, really. ''Anyway, I uhh,'' she wasn't one to hesitate often but she happened to be curious about something. See how much Natasha knew about things. Things that happened all around her, all the time, all day everyday, if only one would know where and how to look. Even right under Nat's nose, Syndra hid things from her - for now, for the time being.

''Remember the masquerade?'' Funny that she's asking, the one who went home drunk, all giddy and cackling about the chaos that went down. It's a miracle she still remembered a whole ton and didn't suffer from blackouts at the amount of alcohol she'd downed that night. ''So, I got this thing,'' Syndra spun around in her chair, leaving her craft desk in the messy state it was in to get up and open the palm of her hand to reveal a red gemstone to her roommate. ''Did you get one too, and do you know what it's for? Because I've got no clue,'' lie, lie, lie.

Valka didn't know every single hunter in Port Leiry, but she tried to make it her beeswax to know. Especially when it came to recruiting for the Fellowship. Plenty of hunters knew her, though, with a reputation preceding her like a bloodhound on a leash. Still, that didn't mean humans couldn't find their way into their so-called sacred spaces. Curiosity and ignorance could get someone in and outta lots of spaces.

She sat at the bar at Sweetwater, salt on the rim of her pretty awful beer. But she came here for the... call it ambience, more than the drinks. And maybe out of some lingering hope she'd get Soleil back on the winning team someday.

Valka spared a glance at another woman sitting nearby, looking again when something tickled the back of her mind and the sight in her one good eye. Chick was about her age, with a rough look and a dark glint to her. It felt familiar. "Sorry to stare, but you look awful familiar. I seen you around this dive before?"

''I got us drinks,'' not just herself - and not even for her own gain - but for both of them. Which wasn't usually found in the blonde's vocabulary. She did things for herself and herself only. Not this time. Perhaps it was the thrill of the night, it had been a while since Syndra felt herself feeling this intoxicated by being surrounded so many mysterious people. There was a small layer of sweat forming underneath her mask, she could feel herself getting hotter after all the dancing she did already.

''Look at me, Nat,'' an already adopted nickname she chose to use without permission, eyes meeting eyes which had Syndra tugging the corners of her lips into a smile, ''isn't this masquerade a thrill of the night? I could go for another dance after this martini, or -'' an even better idea popped into her head, ''- or we could do shots! What do you think?'' Curiosity struck her mind on how much liquor this powerhouse could hold.
