💕 The amazing artist Amy Sherald, I love her art and her heart. 🎨Bold colours, patterned clothing, simple backgrounds and grayscale skin tones make her work stand out. Born in Georgia US, Amy Sherald felt Southern black life was reduced to the same story, her paintings encourage new and different stories about African American life. She uses the gray skin tones to challenge the idea of race where people are categorised by their skin colour. Amy Sherald has coped with a lot of hardship, tragically losing close family, being diagnosed with congestive heart failure at 30 and waiting 9 years for a heart transplant. She put her art career on pause to care for ill family. Although Amy Sherald's work tends to focus on everyday people she does paint the famous for commissions.
