For a very long time after the UA attack and everything following Winston and Izumi had a lot of sleeping issues. They spent a LOT of time during the aftermath of those events, and fighting Ivan, sitting side-by-side in V.I.T. interrogation rooms and the waiting rooms of Hero agencies or aid stations, sometimes through the night. Places constantly bustling and moving, so the two developed a mild inability to sleep alone, and without noise. If the two can't sleep, they jump over one of the others balconies in the dorm and play video games till they can get to sleep. Eventually once they get councilling and the aftermath of those events settles they sorta grow out of it and don't need to do that anymore. But in class, or lectures, if they are seated next to eachother, sometimes they just drop off and fall asleep, so they aren't allowed to sit together anymore.
