MIDI Control – Now With 100% More Audiobus
Just because an audio app is available on the iPad doesn’t mean it will be to your liking. From app to app, the purposes and interface will vary, and each app will have something that you don’t like – but the guy next to you loves. Luckily, iOS apps are cheap (comparatively), and you won’t have to suffer when one of them doesn’t have something you like. The latest movement in iOS apps is inter-audio connectivity. If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, let me explain. Physical audio devices are built to be chained together with other devices – allowing you to build a system of audio devices. Traditional iPad apps can only be used one at a time, and rarely can information be sent from one app to another. Audiobus has changed this entire paradigm, allow you to port audio through your apps, let’s say, if you would like to control sound effects and record at the same time. One of the latest partners to ride the “bus” is Patrick Madden of Secret Base Design. He’s been working to let MIDI devices on the iPad run in conjunction with Audiobus. The goal is that MIDI control will still be a relevant interface even in the coming years. http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2013/01/04/midi-control-now-with-100-more-audiobus/
