Her eyes fixed onto the large, imposing wooden door in front of her, Beatrice took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She knew it was stupid to be nervous, not because it was inappropriate to be nervous but rather because it wouldn’t get her anything anyway. It wouldn’t make a difference if she was nervous or not, everything had already been arranged anyway, was already set in stone. Even if she didn’t like him, it wouldn’t change anything, this marriage was going to happen, no matter how she’d feel about it. So all that was left to do really was meeting the man who was going to be her husband.
Even though she’d been waiting for it, she had to force herself to remain calm and collected on the outside instead of flinching when the door finally opened and she was announced. A part of her considered this rather formal announcement of her full name and titles quite unnecessary for he’d had to already been waiting for her and was the only other person in the room anyway. Or rather the only one that counted as guards and servants did not, not in their lives at least. A soft smile forced onto her rosy lips, the dark-haired princess strode towards the long table. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you”, she said, curtseying slightly before she looked back up to him, trying hard not to stare. Could anybody hold it against her, though? The man in front of her was the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with, the one she was soon swearing to obey and honor, how could she not be curious what he was like?
