“i’ll be with you in a second”, derek said to the men as  they got up from their chairs, “just gotta get rid of the beer first if you know what i mean.” his comment was met with roaring laughter, one of them clapping his shoulder hard as he walked past. as soon as the other men had left the room to have a smoke and some more drinks, he turned his attention to lake, intense blue eyes focusing completely on her as he dug  his calloused fingers into her thigh. “you think you’re so clever coming onto me in front of them, don’t you?”, he growled, pulling her closer, not really caring if he might bruise her skin. quite frankly, it’d serve her right for having been such an incredibly frustrating tease tonight. while it had been quite a pain in his ass a few minutes before, it was now quite convenient that she sat right next to him.

Coffee in hand Kaia glanced around the shop for a free table when she spotted a familiar face. With her usual brazen attitude, Kaia headed to the table and took a seat without asking, “Derek, right?” Kaia knew it was, but it seemed natural to check - especially as Kaia wasn’t always the best with names. “I know Gale, and I was one of the people who bid on you,” She commented, explaining how she knew him. “I’m Kaia,” She introduced with a friendly smile, “Although, Gale may have referred to me as Calliope. He does tend to use my full first name.” @derek-calloway

Kaia wasn’t sure what had her so distracted that morning. Perhaps it had been the late night that had made her rather tired, maybe it was the music blasting through her headphones, or perhaps she had simply gotten lost in her own thoughts. Whatever the reason Kaia hadn’t seen the dog running towards until it was almost too late. Swerving out of the way to avoid a collision Kaia feel to the ground. “Shit,” She cursed loudly, feeling a sharp pain in her hand. Standing up Kaia looked around for the dog’s owner to give them a piece of her mind. Unable to find them Kaia looking down at her hand to find a stick had punctured it all the way through. 

“I’m sorry, what was that?” Kaia asked turning around, realising someone was speaking to her. Hands behind her back Kaia pulled out the stick, trying not to grimace in pain. She knew if anyone saw the injury they’d insist on taking her to the hospital, where she’d have to explain how her hand healed so quickly.
