If someone would have told Cyrus just months ago that he’d be trying to get sober or that he was starting to believe he was an addict. He would have laughed in their faces. Maybe even hit them but here he was walking into an AA meeting. His body was filled with anxiety, dread and fear. He’d never admit that out loud. No never. He couldn’t. He always had to put on this tough shell. This hard layer around him. He started that layer long before Tiff. Long before that pain. No he started blocking people out in his childhood. It was easier. Easier to not get attached. Easier to act hard. To act like things weren’t getting to him. Besides men don’t cry. Men are tough. It’s what he always heard. Maybe that’s why he drank so much. It was easier to down a shot than explain the pain had. Easier to be wasted then deal with all the emotions. But, he was going to try to not waste his life away. He made a promise. A promise he hadn’t been keeping to well. Since the promise he had gone on at least two benders. One were he was out for almost a week. But, now he was going to actually start trying. Hence the AA meeting. Cyrus even decided to bring Basil with him to show he was trying to keep his promise to them. Plus he knew if he hadn’t brought them he’d never be going. He’d never be walking into his meeting. He sighed before holding the door open for the other. “After you.”He muttered trying his best not to show any emotions but he was so filled with anxiety it was seeping out. Normally, he wasn’t like this but right now he couldn’t help it. As two made their way inside, Cyrus eyed everyone in the room. Everyone was from different walks of life. It wasn’t like you saw on TV or movies. Everyone was different and here for a reason. “let’s sit back here.” Cyrus told Basil. He thought if he sat in the back row maybe no one would call on him to share. That maybe he’d be avoided and just listen. Honestly, if he was called on to share he didn’t know what he’d say or how he’d react.
