Laila slowed outside Inked Illusions for what was probably the fourth time that week, lingering just long enough to stare through the window before losing her nerve again. It wasn’t even like she wanted anything dramatic. Something small, super simple. Still the idea of permanently putting something on her body had her standing out on the sidewalk like she was about to make a life-altering decision instead of getting a tattoo. She let out a quiet laugh at herself, rubbing her hands together before glancing toward the door again.
“Okay,” she muttered under her breath. “Either go inside or stop hovering like a confused ghost.” Right as she finally reached for the handle, the door opened from the other side. Laila startled slightly, immediately stepping back. “Jesus— sorry.” She laughed awkwardly, brushing hair behind her ear. “I’m not being weird, I promise. I’ve just been trying to talk myself into coming in for the last ten minutes.”
