ALTHOUGH LILIAS WORKED FOR FRANCISCO, IT DIDN'T MEAN THEY ONLY SAW HIM AS AN EMPLOYER. They wouldn't necessarily call him a friend (mostly because they'd be scared to see how he'd react to that term), but their loyalty extended past the typical 9-5 workday. Perhaps that's why, when they heard that his sister MARIA BERTOLLA was now in town, they took it upon themself to offer her companionship and make her feel less lonely in this new city.

Of course, they didn't have enough friends to know how to keep a young girl entertained in the city. They struggled to plan an event that fit both of their tastes, and in the end, figured that window shopping would be a safe adventure. Lilias didn't have too much money to spend, but they liked looking at the clothes and imagining themself in finery.

"What about this one?" They asked, holding up a yellow sundress between the two of them. They hoped the girl didn't think they were just spending time with her because they worked for her brother. They wanted to show that there are good people in this town, even if the reputation says otherwise. "I think this color would look good on you."

LILIAS HAD INITIALLY JOINED THE BOO CREW TO HELP THEM GET OUT OF THEIR SHELL. They had always been more on the shy side, and they knew they needed to branch out and talk to someone other than their boss. Though they haven't done a good job of befriending the boo crew members yet, they still found themself enjoying the group. The research was interesting, and the thought of solving some of the town's mysteries made them feel justified in their chosen hobby.

Which was why they were in the library researching new leads for the boo crew to check out. They found it comforting to read up on different mysteries happening around Las Vegas and try to determine which ones are worth sharing with the investigators to check out. One ongoing news story stood out to them, and after a few minutes of a quiet pep talk, they convinced themself to wander over and share the thoughts with DIEGO ROJAS, one of the team's investigators.

"Diego." They spoke quietly, watching the man for any sense of annoyance or discomfort. When they didn't sense any, they cleared their throat and continued on, "I um--- I saw some news articles about some strange attacks happening around the graveyard. Do we think this is worth checking out?"

THE NIGHT HAD OFFICIALLY BECOME THE STRANGEST THEY'VE EXPERIENCED SINCE THEY STARTED WORKING FOR FRANCISCO. First, they were prevented from following Francisco into the meeting room, so they just hovered around with others who were summoned for the news. Then, their childhood friend came through a window and attacked them with an arrow--- leaving a bleeding wound on their arm. Finally, they swear they saw a giant dog running around at some point in the night.

They wanted to go home, but they didn't want to leave their boss in his hour of need. His father had just passed away, and though they hadn't experienced a loss like his, they knew he needed people to lean on to get through the grieving period. They weren't sure about his family situation (other than what's in the news, but they didn't trust the tabloids), but they didn't want to assume that the family members could provide the support he needed. Plus, they wanted to see if they'd get compensated for getting injured on the job.

Lilias ran far away from the violence that plagued them earlier in the night, and they finally spotted FRANCISCO VITELLI after what felt like hours of waiting around for an instruction. They gasped as they landed in front of him, not used to physical activity in such a capacity. They stayed hunched over for a good minute or two before they sat up, eyes wide as they watched their employer, "Boss... this night has been strange." They murmured, momentarily forgetting about their bleeding arm as they watched him, "Are you okay?"

THE FEEL OF AN ARROW PIERCING THEIR SKIN HAD HAUNTED THEM SINCE THE DAY OF THEIR BOSS'S FATHER'S DEATH. Though they got the wound bandaged up and were better off than some of the individuals at the Vitelli manor (their mind flashing back towards the poor woman who got an arrow in her stomach after their own attack), they still felt tense about that day. They've had trouble sleeping ever since, and coffee made them too jittery to function at work.

Of course, maybe being too amped up would've been a better alternative than potentially falling asleep on the job. They fought a wave of exhaustion for the past hour, letting the ring of the phones keep them from shutting their eyes, but eventually, they felt their eyes begin to flutter shut. Their head tilted towards the desk, but it stopped its descent when the echo of heels rang across the office floor. Their eyes fluttered open to reveal it was ANTONIA HART who caught them in the act.

"M--Ms. Hart!" They gasped, heart beating out of their chest at the sudden realization of their situation. They had never fallen asleep at work before, and to be caught by such an established political figure was more than embarrassing. "Were you wanting to see Mr. Vitelli? Or was there another reason you came by?"

WHO: Lilias Tsukasa & Iris Hawkins (@thephantvm) WHERE: Mean-Eyed Cat Bar

THE LAST FEW DAYS HAD BEEN STRESSFUL FOR LILIAS. They got attacked by a former friend the night their boss's dad died, and now their workload has shifted to adjust to the funeral preparations and questionable journalists trying to hound Mr. Vitelli about his family's loss. They've been trying to keep their stress hidden from their boss since they know he's had a lot on his plate, but that didn't mean it wasn't visible to the naked eye. They were skipping meals, not getting as much sleep, and overall felt tired from the new year festivities.

They decided what they needed was a break from their normal routine, which is why they ended up at the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar. They stood out like a sore thumb against all the bikers and rough individuals who frequent the tavern, but it was on their way home and they wanted to try and relax a bit--- even if the patrons made them feel on edge. They opted to settle in a stool at the corner of the bar and got a drink, which quickly turned into two, then three.

"And then he came through a window and threw a stick at me." They rambled, waving their arms as they tried to reenact what happened at the Vitelli manor. They didn't realize it would only take three drinks to get them tipsy enough to forget their shyness, but clearly, the insecurities melted away as they talked to IRIS HAWKINS. They paused their story when they realized they were distracting her, sheepishly ducking their head as they muttered, "I'm sorry, I don't normally talk this much."

THOUGH THE TSUKASAS WERE KNOWN IN THE POLITICAL SPHERE OF LAS VEGAS, THE LIFE OF A POLITICIAN WAS NEVER ONE LILIAS LONGED FOR. She was uncomfortable in the spotlight, public speaking (or most speaking in general) made her nervous, and her father's affair would've haunted any campaign she attempted to do.

Instead, she found herself preferring the work behind the scenes. Maintaining calendars and responding to emails made her feel useful, and FRANCISCO VITELLI was a fair employer. He paid her well, didn't yell at her, and she slowly found herself growing comfortable in the position. Sure, there were holes in his schedule that made her slightly concerned and the occasional strange visitor that she learned not to question, but a job is a job, right?

And the day's work may be ending sooner than expected once she received a cancellation email from the next expected visitor. A slight frown adorned her lips at the notice (didn't people know not to cancel less than 24 hours before the meeting?), but she pushed it away as she quietly wandered over to her boss' office, knocking twice before pushing the door open.

"Boss, your 5pm meeting just cancelled." Her voice was usually no more than a whisper, but a strange confidence tended to emerge when it was just the two of them. "Apparently, the senator ate some bad sushi and has food poisoning. Should I send a gift basket?"
