“you know when you say something like that, it’s hard not to be obvious?” the male complains, though an amused grin starts to spread. “well, the good kind of eyeing or some bad, creepy kind?”

“why would i lie about this?” a hint of exasperation settles in his tone, as he takes a step forward, away from the comfort of the dark corner in the alley that he’s somehow settled into a moment earlier. “i hate to say it,” he wishes there was another way to say it, to be more convincing perhaps. but from bits and pieces that he’s heard, the circus experiences that the man opposite him had weren’t exactly pleasant. to a certain extent, he supposes that makes two of them. “but i think there’s something up with the circus.”

“i was starting to think if you don’t open the door any sooner, i’d have to eat the entire pizza by myself.” he says as soon as the opened door reveals his best friend’s face, as he holds up the pizza box in his hand. with a warm grin, he spreads his arms open for a hug. “well, it’s been a while, donna troy. can i get a hug now?”
