This should stop coming as such a surprise to her.
She had this innate fear of sleep and no reply to question as to why. Maybe some repressed memory she vaguely remembers prowling around her brain, out of direct thought and comprehension, but still tangible enough that she could feel it. She did not know what was it that frightened her long ago, she could not remember the nightmares but for as long as she cared to recollect, she remembers the fear of sleep. No, not sleep, dreams.
Dreams were her sister’s area of expertise, but she did not like rousing her from her sleep just to cast a spell or procure her with a sleeping potion to knock her out for a few hours, dreaming excluded from the nightly chore. Tavia went as far as to working all night in the family library, reading up on various form of animal magic and shape shifting to help pass her time and not once has she been found in the morning, dozing off in the library, in her favourite armchair at the table.
But her sister worried.
Tavia forced herself to seek out Heloise to provide much needed help and softly prayed that she was not yet asleep. Knocking gently on the door of her sister’s bedroom, the brunette waited for a reply before opening the door and letting herself in. “Have I disturbed you?” She asked, rounding the room in an inspective glance before returning the inspection back to her sibling.
