Venus Opposite Mercury in Synastry...
Venus is the planet of love and romance while Mercury is the planet of the lower mind/all things cerebral/communication. When these two team up in opposition, things can get tricky.
Why?
Because Mercury is all about logic. He’s cool and detached. Analytical and unemotional, while Venus is warm, joyful and full of romance. As a result, the Venus person may misinterpret the Mercury person’s emotions, while the Mercury might view the Venus person as vain/superficial or hyper-sensitive. When the Venus person feels amorous, the Mercury person feels logical and unemotional. So yes, you’d be right to assume ‘bad communication’ could occur with this particular interaspect. Both Mercury and Venus can find it challenging to communicate about the emotional issues, period. There’s just this base-level lack of understanding of each other’s feelings. Mercury can often hurt Venus’ feelings or offend Venus very easily. In addition, because we’re talking about Venus which rules what we appreciate, an opposition between the mind and our tastes can mean there may be differences in musical or cultural interests. It can be hard to find common ground. There’ll be a bit of competition in trying to get your points across to each other [there will be lots of conversations though]. Those with this interaspect simply need to listen to each other, Balance is needed.
Mercury Opposite Neptune “Liar liar, pants on fire...”
Yes, this is what I call this aspect. I’ve said it before, Neptune aspects are known for their deceitful nature. I honestly believe that Neptune aspects in synastry can harm us even more than difficult Pluto aspects. As spiritual as this planet is, its highest manifestation simply cannot be reached with disharmonious aspects like the square and opposition. There will be trouble trusting, typically on the part of the Mercury person. There’s a deep attraction here, yes. Again we’re talking about Neptune that just puts the rose-colored Ray-Bans on everything. However, there’s always this nagging feeling that something is not right about the partner but you just can’t put your finger on it. Typically, the Mercury person is the one who will receive this energy [typically, but synastry can go either way]. There can be an immense amount of suspicion on the Mercury person´s side.
A timeline?
This Interaction initiates – as with all Neptune aspects – quite idealistically. While you are fascinated by each other's minds, delusions are always lurking. Mercury is just soooo impressed with Neptune. Neptune just seems larger than life to Mercury. So knowledgeable, cultured, and a little too good to be true. It really seems that Neptune has all the answers to Mercury. Hence, where the idealization sets in. But after a while, Mercury, analytical as they are will begin to notice inconsistencies with Neptune. The omission of details will begin to play out as half-truths which will then graduate to whole-lies after a while. Mercury may find the Neptune person too abstract or ambiguous, while Neptune may find Mercury over-analytical and lacking imagination. Neptune has a need for empathy, caring, and spirituality that Mercury may not feel they can provide In fact they may see it as unrealistic or stage-5 clingy. Over time, Mercury’s trust may fade for Neptune, and Neptune may feel very misunderstood by Mercury. The communication is there yes, but things will be hidden. Omitted. Covered up. Embellished, etc. Again, this is synastry so this can go both ways, however, remember, you can typically trace these things back in the natal chart. See which person has this aspect natally and at what orb [0-3 degrees are the closest and tend to be felt quite potentially.] From there, check where the Mercury person’s Mercury is in their birth chart, The house and aspects made to Mercury will be the areas that the Neptune person lies about.
Ex 1.
If Mercury is in the 5th, there will be lies about being faithful but Neptune will flirt with have casual partnerships with others and probably fucking them on the side as well.
Ex 2.
Mercury in the 2nd house? Neptune will lie about their resources/ income and at their worse, even take money from Mercury, or Mercury can wind up supporting Neptune financially. Adversely, Neptune can hide resources from Mercury, causing Mercury might feel taken advantage of. So though this particular interaspect is less the combative ‘bad communication’ [that would be Mars/Mercury in hard aspect] and more akin to deceptive communication. Again, I have to warn you, since Neptune is involved, please be careful. This aspect can also cause those to turn to substance [Neptune] abuse [Opposition] to alter the mindstate [Mercury] just to keep the fantasy [Neptune] alive. Make sense? Now, this is just one aspect [out of two] so balance can be achieved if there are favorable aspects to Saturn [that restricts and can shut down some of this Neptunian fog] or even healthy Pluto to add some discernment and investigative skills. Please remember broken hearts are avoidable. Conscious awareness and the need for honesty is paramount between the two planets if harmony is ever to be reached.
