just a heads up to my fellow spreadsheet autistics, Interdimensional Vending Machine is free to play on itch.io and has a mostly consistent numerical item drop system that periodically shuffles individual item numbers just enough to make the ongoing spreadsheeting extremely engaging! 🤩

when you put money in the vending machine three things can happen

1) the panel displaying the amount of money inserted remains the same after the item is dispensed, this means that this item will be dispensed again if you put in that much money again (though if you do so too many times it will trigger a reshuffle and assign that item a new number)

2) the number displayed on the panel changes after an item has been dispensed, this means that the amount of money you just put in will consistently give you a random item until it ends up assigned to a new item during a shuffle (a vast majority of numbers will dispense random items), the number that shows up after dispensing the item is how much money you need to insert to get that specific item again

3) the panel says GOOD (or maybe 6000? kinda hard to tell with the graphics) after dispensing an item, this seems to indicate that the item does not have an assigned number and can only be won randomly until it reshuffles and gets assigned a number, there's always several items in this category at a time

if you input 1000 you get either a large packet of apple seeds OR a bucket of 'KFG', the KFG will have a much more affordable assigned number that you can also purchase it with, however purchasing the KFG via the 1000 input seems to bypass the trigger that causes the assigned number to reshuffle, apple seeds never have an assigned number but often show up randomly, and if you input any amount under 100 you will always get small quantities of apple seeds

the assigned numbers seem to stay within the 100-500 range

also the food items have different effects on your character so you can colour code them when you figure them out! (the effects are all different flavours of body horror)

important to note, new games will ENTIRELY reshuffle the numbers so make sure to ONLY 'continue' your game! dying of starvation will reset your items, money, and form, but it will NOT reset your numerical system as long as you still select 'continue' after it boots you back to the main screen, (I will assume being arrested has the same result but I haven't actually tested that one), the game also auto saves your progress even if you close the browser

also because updating your spreadsheet takes time and time in this game very rapidly drains your hunger, the game will pause when you get pop up messages, which happens when you click the menu button on the top left, so abuse the everloving fuck out of that

I don't know about other players but whenever I try to reach an ending for this game I end up dying due to "starving to death" even if my food and drink health bars aren't empty. It's not like they're at 5% or 1% or anything, it can be at 40% and my screen will suddenly cut to the "died to to starving" ending. I'm not sure if there's a time limit now due to the update but it's kinda hard to play like this :/

There's this pretty cool game called Interdimensional Vending Machine! I wanted to play it after watching ManlyBadassHero play it.

You stay on the street and beg for money so you can get random food from a suspicious vending machine

I love the way food is drawn :D

Some things it gives you aren't food, like this time it gave me bullets? The girl still ate it somehow...

I wonder if there's an ending where the police arrests you

But so far I've been playing fornalmost two hours and I still haven't gotten any ending transformations

But here's what I noticed in case someone's playing this too:

100 coins and above - either rotten fruit or bug related foods

200 coins and above - either good food or bug related foods

Anything below 50 gives me seeds

1 coin = 1 seed, 2 coins = 2 seeds, etc.

I did get 100 seeds in a sealed bag when I slipped in a 100 coin

500 yen coin gave me pasta :D

I hope this game gets more updates in the future! Like for example: have the girl do something while waiting for the coins or being able to switch streets to beg in for a change in scenery, get some lore (we do get some info about the girl from how the people who pass her by describe her), or maybe one of the people passing her by accidentally drops something in the can and it leads to another secret rare ending

I'm confused on how to reach an ending. Like do I have to keep her fed or let her go fully hungry at 0%? Idk, I'll keep playing to see..
