I swear, as a woc, when you only see white girls everywhere being held as the standard of beauty, no matter how "attractive" you make yourself feel, no matter how you dress or how much you do your skincare routine, etc, you never fully feel like enough.

Trying to explaind to my mom the difference between Racism and Internalized Racism is a pain.

Three times telling her that they are not the same, and she keeps saying: «but I'm not racist». And she isn't, but the IR is clear in the way that she speak sometimes.

Hello, I am black and I think I suffer from internalised racism against other black people. It's a very superficial and shallow; I hate my hair. SO MUCH. It's been fed to me by the media and everyone around me that my hair is disgusting and now I think so too. To the point where I don't want to marry a man that has dry/African like hair (could be from any race but most are black right?) so my children don't suffer from hair like mine. Help?

You gotta start learning to love yourself. The first step is realizing you have a problem and the second is wanting to fix that problem.Which you’ve already done!

Now, Start following some black blogs with positive images of black people. Maybe start by looking at black hair blogs. Our hair is magical. You are seriously missing out.
