For many working cooks, achieving a culinary qualification is only a dream; unable to leave their jobs to study full-time because they need to provide for their families and cannot afford to pay for culinary tuition. The industry has many examples of cooks and chefs who landed in their current role after starting as a kitchen hand or cleaner and stepped in to help the chef when needed.
