So, thing? For my SJ and SJ-adjacent Tumblrers.
We have a word for intersectionality - where possessing multiple identities, usually multiple marginalised identities, creates problems greater than the sum of their parts.
What we don’t have a word for is people like me, and broadly speaking, *pretty much everyone*, who possesses both marginalised and privileged identities.
So I’m a cis, white, educated, western, not impoverished, physically abled person, but also a gender-nonconforming, bisexual, part-Roma, not rich, mentally disabled person. (then there’s also things like ‘Atheist’ and ‘not ideally skinny but not really fat’ that are kind of in-between)
This means that, in the less stable end of SJ, I’m gonna end up reading ‘lol drink their tears’ *and* ‘defend at all costs’ both actually talking about me? Sometimes from the same people.
IDK, I just figured that the fact that probably almost everyone is interprivilege in this way should give us more perspective than, from what I’ve seen, it has.
