Hi!!!
I have an interview for grad school tomorrow and am wondering what to expect.
How nerdy should I be? Should I dress as if it’s a professional (job) interview?
Any tips appreciated!!!!
REAL LIFE ADULTING HELP NEEDED PLEASE especially from fellow americans since i’m not sure the interview process is the same everywhere
i am the absolute worst interviewer. i try. i try really damn hard. i shove down as much general and social anxiety as i possibly can. i do my best to stay focused and not fidget. i try to seem as neurotypical as humanly possible. i put on my best smile and i even use all the body language i can to my advantage. but then i open my mouth and everything falls apart.
this has been a horribly rough few years for me career wise. i’m at a pretty extreme low point and every fucking time i get turned down to a job i’m perfectly qualified for in the field i love and miss its just kicking me while i’m already down. and whats worse is that i know these employers only see my resume and not me. they see a 30 year old who can’t seem to hold a steady job in the last few years or even decide on what i want to do. that isn’t the case, but thats how it reads. so i just really need some extra help
particularly with the first and most common interview question; “tell me a little about yourself.” ugh.
okay, so i know the structure in which to answer this but i need a little help in my case. how do i... justify? explain vaguely? why i’ve left a high paying, actual career field, for retail work??? the real answer to that is i left my preferred field partly due to personal reasons and partly to explore another branch of the career that i found out i hated so fucking much that i quit and i’ve had NO luck getting back into the field in over a year. so i’m having to take whatever i can get just to have some income. but like, how do i bend that to my favor so it looks acceptable to the interviewer?? i’m just at a loss how to spin the shitshow i’ve been living into something positive and redeemable
I’ve had 2 invitations to interview for a masters. Just waiting on kings (aka my dream course) to reply 🤞🏻

How to crack an interview
Preparing for an interview can make most people nervous. Your mind can be full of questions, what will they ask? What if I forget my words? What if I say something wrong? If this is how you have felt, it is alright, you are not alone. Most people feel nervous before interviews. But with a bit of preparation, however, you can convert that nervousness into confidence.
In this guide, I will share some simple interview tips and tricks to help you feel more prepared, relaxed, and ready to face the interview.
1. Know the job you are applying for
One of the best interview tips and tricks is to read the job description carefully. Before you walk into the room or log into that video call, know what the company is looking for.
Ask yourself:
What are the key responsibilities of the role?
What skills and experience are they asking for?
Can I give examples from my past experience that match those needs?
When you understand what the company wants, you can shape your answers to match that.
2. Research the company
Many candidates skip this step, but it matters a lot. Explore the company website before going to the interview. Have a look at their "About" page, check out what they do or offer as services or products, and read their values. If they have a social media page, browse through a few posts. You do not need to memorize everything, but knowing some background information helps you to be confident when they ask, “Why do you want to work here?”
3. Practice how to introduce yourself
Most interviews begin with a simple question, “Tell me about yourself.” This is your chance to give a short, friendly summary about you. You can be prepared to mention your current role or background, your past experience, and what you are looking for next. This is one of the simplest but most powerful interview tips and tricks. You do not have to memorize your answers but think about what you want to say and how you will say it. Practice out loud. You can even record yourself and listen back to see how confident you sound.
