Interview Pt. 5
Reporter McStrawman (RM): Yeah, being gentle and adaptive seems the way to go.
Leeah Swift (LS): Life teaches you how to live it.
RM: Is that a positive affirmation for you?
LS: Kind of. I would shrug away from it being inherently positive, though.
RM: Then what does it mean to you?
LS: Well, at the end of the Amy Winehouse documentary—
RM: You saw an advanced screening?
LS: Uh, no, I saw it with friends at a theater. Friends who, I was told, told other friends “We were all crying, but Leeah was, like, crying.”
RM: Doesn’t that not come out until July, though?
LS: What?
RM: That documentary doesn’t come out until July and it’s March 21st.
LS: Really?
RM: Yeah, it’s March 21st and you came out to your mother as trans yesterday. You’re hypothetically future-known for your contributions to music; that’s why I’m interviewing you.
LS: Oh, yeah. Shit.
RM: So are we staying here?
LS: Did you want to leave?
RM: No, no, no…it just seems to me that you have access to some supernatural plane and you’re somewhere else in space and time than I am. Where is it you want to be?
LS: I couldn’t tell you for certain.
RM: Well, you have to choose
LS: I don’t want to.
RM: but—
LS: I’m not going to. You’re not my spirit guide.
RM: I’m not sure how you got from point A to point B there.
