How do you interpret the fact that at the start of the dream, Cal walks into the cave? Or that Cal's subconscious calls it "your" walls of doom?
I think it symbolizes Cal “connecting” with his deeper self. He was asking himself questions and that brought him there.
I don’t know if I understood the second question ( probably not - sorry ) but I think the walls of doom bit was simply Cal’s subconscious recalling the expression “painting flowers on your walls of doom” that Steve probably used when he “helped” him - with the walls representing Cal’s sad/tragic reality.
While another interpretation could be that he’s going towards (walk into) his inevitable “demise” ( walls of doom ) …
