Winter Wonderland
Snow, there was snow everywhere! For the past hour the cold flakes had been fluttering down from the sky, dusting the entire campus in another thick layer. It had taken all of Aradia’s self control to not run outside the second it had started falling, forcing herself to wait until the snow looked just right for frolicking about and playing. Although it was already late December, the novelty of snow and the cold of winter had still not quite worn off. In fact, her appreciation for the cold weather had only grown in exposure, although she would still vehemently argue that autumn was the best of the seasons. Growing up, she had never experienced the seasonal shift in temperature nor any weather patterns, such as rain or snow. So far, she loved it, even if it meant she kept getting sick. Aradia didn’t know how to dress for fluctuating weather, which meant she was often under dressed for the chill of winter or over dressed for the heat of summer. She liked sweaters, they made up the large majority of her wardrobe and she saw little reason to change that based on what was happening outside.
Shoving her feet into her boots, she dropped her cellphone and anything else buried into her jean pockets onto her bed. Barreling down the hallway, Aradia threw open the front door to the dorms and let out a cheerful holler. She ran straight into the growing layer of snow, not caring as it spilled over the edge of her shoes and into her boots. Throwing her head back and her arms out, she spun around in circles while the snow fell down around her. She stuck out her tongue, trying to catch flakes on her tongue, while the snow lightly dusted her face, dotting her dark hair and lashes. Aradia spun around faster, turning until she got dizzy and unceremoniously feel over, mess of hair spread out around her and snow inching up the back of her sweater. Laughing to herself, she fanned out her arms and legs, making a snow angel since she already in position. She let out a content sigh, starting up at the darkening sky. Playing in the snow was great, but it would be even better if she had someone to share it with. Aradia really wanted to have a snow ball fight or make a snow fort, all the things she had read about, but never gotten to experience.
