Forever grateful and thankful to the organizers of the Honouring MMIWG conference for inviting #InUnity to both attend and present this past week in Sudbury. The teachings I have learned will forever stay with me, and I hope to pass them on - as education and awareness are key in ending the MMIWG crisis. Miigwech. (at Sudbury, Ontario)
Aaaaand that’s a wrap on phase one of #InUnity!! Still to come: phase two, a virtual and physical exhibit to be debuted in February 2018. What is #InUnity? “It’s a call to action to raise awareness on the reported and actual number of #MMIW. Over the past three decades, there have been 1,181 Indigenous women reported as murdered and 164 reported as missing. However, the real numbers are estimated to be as high as 4,000. Unsurprisingly, these numbers are disproportionate to other races within Canada.” - @inunity2017 Thank you to all the volunteers and participants who came out on Thursday, Oct. 19 to help form the medicine wheel that will be displayed in both our virtual and physical exhibits. To learn more about #InUnity you can pop over to our website inunity.uoguelph.ca, follow the Instagram tagged in the photo or follow the official twitter account of the same handle. Hope to see you all in February for our big debut! 🔴⚫️⚪️🌕
