Me as I reread the manga, man I can't stand Sesshomaru sorry 😂 you can basically see the one neuron circling his mind about what his father wanted for him and his swishy hair chasing away the thought that maybe, MAYBE, being the strongest of the two sons he could build his legacy without any help in the form of an heredity. But it goes on and on for so long that I can't take him seriously at this point (this is chapter 500, he is going to get it now I know, but man it's been soooo loooong) his storyline has definitely a pacing issue for me, but I guess it's a problem of tastes, had he gotten over himself earlier I would have liked him more (innominabile sequel notwithstanding obv) but here we are, less than sixty chapters to the end and still ON THIS. Man grow up, your daddy issues are not cute anymore.
Inuyasha and Kikyou were infatuated with each other. Infatuation is not love. To call an infatuation, one as shallow as the one between Inuyasha and Kikyou, "love" is an insult to love. I don't feel sorry for them because they did not prove their "love." In short, do anything that actually resembles deep love. Neither values the safety and happiness of the other.
Kikyou did not say a single kind word to Inuyasha ("What happened to me was not your fault" "Please don't blame yourself" "Be happy") even after she got past her rage. Because she enjoyed seeing him miserable I suppose. No narrative or logical reason is given for this behaviour of hers.
Inuyasha's protection of her was whiny and halfassed, which is why he failed to protect her from Naraku Every. Single. Time. And his promise to protect her was bound to fail as long as Kagome was around. And he knew it.
And RT really thinks her readers are so dumb and poorly read, they will buy this laughably shallow failed infatuation (ballasted with lies, suicide demands, and liberal amounts of guiltripping of course) as "deep love" lol. She has a very low opinion of readers' intelligence and love in general apparently.
I can feel sorry that their infatuation failed when they were alive. But anything beyond that? Not really.
Inukik in the manga is so shallow, its annoying. And its not just shallow but also psychologically abusive.
But RT is presenting this as "deep love". Yet, the "show" does not match the" tell".
"They look good" together is an acceptable basis for shipping not for WRITING A GODDAMN RELATIONSHIP. There is literally no basis for manga Inukik. They rarely interact and those interactions are shallow.
They don't achieve the bare minimum for a healthy romantic relationship--at least caring for and protecting each other.
Like with everything surrounding Kikyou's shallow characterization, her "beautiful character design" was supposed to compensate for the lazy writing.
So considering the" Return to the place where we first met" chapter in the manga I have stopped shipping Inukag in the manga for now.
Because Rumiko has taken away something fundamental to their relationship -- communication. Which they had no trouble with uptil this point. And no logical or narrative reason is provided for why they would suddenly stop communicating their feelings with each other when they did it just fine uptil this point.
But that's going into how Inuyasha himself has been turned into an OOC caricature just for this chapter.

It's also extremely OOC that neither Inuyasha and Kagome bring up the fact that HE is the one who started and continued the relationship even when Kagome was willing to clarify things and remain just friends. Through all of this Kikyou is still "suffering" and being chased by Naraku btw. And he's also already been told the lie about her following him in death and he STILL chooses Kagome. So Inuyasha has no exceuse for his choice.
Instead, in this chapter, both talk about the asspull of Kikyou following Inuyasha in death, which confirms my suspicion that this entire chapter is about building a fake basis for Inukik (which has been laughably shallow and ridiculously poorly written so far).
It's almost like RT wants the reader to just conveniently forget Inuyasha's role in starting and solidifying his romantic relationship with Kagome (to the detriment of Kikyou) and just push some bs mysogynistic "Kagome jealousy" angle instead.
So no I'm not going to settle for "Inuyasha risks his life for Kagome! He obviously loves her. Inuyasha gets jealous over her. He obviously loves her!"
Because that's the bare minimum and Inukag is capable of much much more than this, as previous manga chapters have shown.
Takahashi is so underhanded and pathetic, she has decided to make Inukag OOC to make InuKik look better instead of you know actually building a proper rapport and bond between Inukik.
She would rather make a healthy couple OOC than put some work in rewriting and developing her shallow unhealthy couple. Wow.
I'm not anti-Inukag at this point, but Inuyasha will have to work very hard to be worthy of Kagome let alone marry her or have a kid with her.
