Big Plans for Audio Bus
Here is something that may surprise you about software and hardware companies. Not all of their ideas are original, and not all of them originate from within the company. A prime example is Serato Scratch Live. Serato is traditionally associated with Rane, a maker of DJ mixers – but Serato was originally founded by three developers who had nothing to do with Rane. It wasn’t until they got to use their 56 mixer that they decided they wanted to implement their product inside the mixer itself. Since then the two brand names have become one in the same, like Kleenex and Tissues. Sometimes these original ideas are simply bought outright from a larger company who wants to clean up the competition. I think this is what has happened with Audiobus. The guys who developed it basically achieved what Apple was trying to achieve, but they did a better job of it and did it quicker. Now that Apple has introduced their own inter-audio protocol, it makes you wonder – what will become of Audiobus? Spectators are guessing that the two have joined forces in a mutual relationship that keeps them both alive.
