Broken In

The office itself was simple enough, plain but utilized enough so it didn’t feel empty, and the atmosphere was strangely comfortable, meant to be familiar and easy to feel calm in. Bucky didn’t, couldn’t feel calm at all.

He stared at the Nelson & Murdock sign, stormy eyes glazed over at the sight, his flesh fingers twitching at the stress that wracked his body, making him look near paralyzed, at least until the sound of laughter from outside the building made him nearly jump out of his skin.

A rugged breath was all he had time for before hearing someone in the hallway, walking towards the door that he had picked open. Bucky set his jaw, forced himself to look away from the window and settled back to staring at the door, his metal arm seeming to be the only aspect of him that was steady.

Danny had knocked on the office door for what seemed like hours... In reality, it had only been a matter of minutes, but the blood pooling in his hands had him a little on edge, to say the least. When a man that was decidedly not Matthew Murdock finally opened it, he groaned. "Crap, hey, can I-" he coughed, cutting himself off momentarily, "come in?"

Bucky considered the man - Foggy, and that was a bit of an odd name - for a moment.  Considered giving a false name or ignoring the handshake.  But he just looked... earnest.  It was an uncommon trait, at least in Bucky’s recent experience.  So he pulled his flesh hand from his pocket and shook the man’s hand.

“Bucky Barnes,” he offered.  “Lawyer?  You don’t seem like a cop.”
