Hello I've been reblogging your pretty gifs today and noticed how sharp your text was.

Would you be able to share your text settings? Tysm!

I use the font Arial Rounded MT Bold, and I make that bold and italicized. the font file I downloaded doesn't have options to make it bold and italicized, if that makes sense, so I accomplish this with the character menu on the left-hand menu.

the size I make the font depends on the size of the gif. to give some idea, in this heated rivalry set, the font size is 20 point.

then I add stroke and drop shadow. the drop shadow settings have been trial and error, and I honestly can't be bothered to try more options so it is what it is 😅

hello. i've recently returned to gifmaking after a couple of years off (i'm at @iressails) and the sharpening settings i used to use aren't looking that great anymore.

i don't know if the style is different to 2023, or tumblr is compressing things oddly, or something changed between the photoshop versions from then and now.

or if some setting that i used to export to gif i've changed (i don't remember).

whatever it is my gifs are looking very soft. most times i don't mind but i want to do it intentionally rather than not be able to at all.

lots of words for your-sets-are-amazing-for-sharpness and would you have any tips to share?

hiya! first of all your gifs are very pretty - i, too, suffer from looking at my own stuff for so long everything starts looking MEH. however, thank you so much for the kind words! <3

but i have shared my sharpening settings here! as for export settings, i'll put the screenshot under the cut, but i will say that adaptive vs selective makes no real visible difference lmao i've just stuck with adaptive, even though it makes the file a tad bigger.

and what's more, the quality of the source material plays the biggest role in my gifs i feel! i have HR in 4k which allows me to zoom in and such with a lot of playing room.
