Okay so I finally got around to watching the last two episodes of season 2 (work things woo!) and just. How could anyone ever want to hurt the absolute puppy dog that is Cate? Like if she looked at me like she looked at Marie and asked me to heal her? Oh honey I’m on my knees in about 0.5 seconds. Like yes please let me be of use. You want your powers back? Have them back tenfold. I’ll create a whole new categorization of powers just based on how I’d heal her.

and that’s what i've been saying!!! like....cate has never been genuinely cruel or hateful—she is a sopping wet kicked puppy of a girl. her whole arc is just “i was trying my absolute best with the information i was given,” and people act like she woke up one day and said “let me be evil on purpose.”

she was manipulated into believing she was helping. and what kills me is that her power is literally about control—but she never actually feels in control of her own life. she can control anyone in the room, and yet she’s the one being controlled the entire time.

the amount of internal conflict there??? the layers??? the tragedy of someone who could take anyone’s autonomy but never believes she’s allowed to have her own???

cate is one of the most fascinating characters ever. i could write a 50-page thesis on her.

ugh. i love her so much. and maddie embodies her so well, couldn't have asked for anyone better equipped to understand her.

Maddie posting little videos from set and stuff on Twitter makes me feel two ways. On one hand, I’m loving it because it’s so fun to watch. On the other, it makes me even more sad about the cancellation.

i know :( it’s very much a double-edged sword. like on one hand i love seeing her happy and having fun on set—it’s impossible not to smile when she smiles. that’s my girl fr<3

but at the same time it just makes me think about what could’ve been...and that part hurts SO much.

i don’t usually talk about private stuff on here, but i will say she sent me the sweetest message after the news, which just makes me appreciate her even more. she’s genuinely such an angel :(

and honestly, i’m just really grateful for everything this show gave me. it gave me my favorite character ever, this wondeful community, a renewed love for writing, and an actual friend in maddie. and i’m especially grateful that it was her who brought cate to life. i genuinely can’t imagine anyone else in the role—she was and still is perfect for it, and i’ll miss seeing cate on my screen<3

but i am really excited for everything she has coming up. she’s insanely talented and deserves so much success. it just sucks that something she clearly put so much love and effort into ended like this.

Okay so I’m expanding on the NHL Player!Syd, rival team social media admin!Cate idea I commented a few days ago. I think the rivalry should start in college (I have no idea who is whose rival with college hockey) like Cate does something for a rival college’s team and so she automatically dislikes Syd. Especially more so when everyone starts to realize she’s essentially the second coming of Gretzky (Macklin Celebrini will one day break his records im calling it now, I have faith in the baby shark) meanwhile this entire time on the other side is Syd who’s brain is just ✨hockey✨ and occasionally “Hey that Cate girl is really pretty.”

okay wait i love this. i’ve officially tossed this onto my (very real, very private) series ideas list...so thank you for being big-brained and nearly as obsessed with sydcate as i am—it genuinely means the world to me. i feel so seen.

since you opened the hockey floodgates (again), here are a few of my other ideas just to feed you a little:

childhood best friends → lovers: cate is there through juniors, the draft, the league. syd genuinely would not have made it this far without cate’s belief in her. extremely soft, extremely devastating.

figure skater!cate x hockey player!syd (one-sided at first): cate is dragged to a game, front row, bored out of her mind—until she realizes there is exactly one woman on the ice. suddenly she’s a hockey expert overnight.

classic figure skater vs hockey player enemies-to-lovers: mutual disdain, wildly different disciplines, competitive as hell, accidentally obsessed with each other. always a fun concept tbh hehe

so yes. keep feeding me all your hockey thoughts. i am listening...

I have surfaced for air from the depths of my brainrot! (It won’t last long) Happy late new year! I have been firmly locked in on hockey and Heathers The Musical brainrot on top of the normal Cate brainrot. I blame being a theater kid and loving women that I could fix but also I like her how she is (Heather Chandler my beloved, I do not care it’s set in the 80’s if her and Veronica would have just made out a few times then JD wouldn’t have killed her!).

I also finally bought NHL 26 because it was on sale and besides having to stare at 🤢🤢🤢tcachuk🤢🤢🤢 I’ve been having a ton of fun. Did all I could to not be drafted by my Sharks for once and guess who drafted me? The Sharks. Also, I hate Tampa now, I was indifferent originally. They played dirty as hell on Saturday against us and then proceeded to be surprised when we started throwing punches.

Sorry for the rant I’ve just been MIA for far too long!

but yes omg the worst part of nhl26 is having to stare at his face every time the game boots up. immediate jumpscare. but otherwise it’s been a lot of fun for me too, especially since i’m not even a huge sports game person in general. it’s just…weirdly addictive.

also i’m crying that you did everything in your power to avoid being drafted by the sharks and they STILL took you😭 but welcome to the tampa hater club<3

Colorado knocks Minnesota out of the playoffs!!!! Oh I used to pray for times like this. What a roller coaster of a game.

Now all I need is Vegas to get obliterated and I’ll be perfectly content

as much as i hate colorado, i did need quinn hughes humbled a little so i can’t lie i am happy with that outcome lol.

but yes vegas NEEDS to go. i’m still annoyed they even made playoffs because the pacific was such a mess this season😭 and maybe this is my bitter red wings fan bias talking, but i genuinely hate the conference/division setup sometimes. like you’re telling me teams with way fewer points can squeeze in depending on division strength while other teams miss? so stupid.

While I’m sad the Sharks lost to the Wings (yes I’m writing this right after the game finished) at least it was a good game until we fell apart in the third.

Side note, do you think the Wings would be happy if the Sharks left Klingberg in Detroit and he joined them? He’s totally not a defensive liability who constantly gives away the puck and then can’t back check fast enough to make up for it. Or we could trade him to the Wings for a First round pick. He’s definitely worth it.

ugh yeah, i hate when my favorite teams play each other😭 but i will always, always default to red wings loyalty lol. i need this to be the year we finally break the playoff curse—like i’m begging. that said, i am still hoping the sharks make it too!!! god knows the nucks won’t lmao...

i did watch the game though and it was a fun one!!! definitely more enjoyable than the sens game last night (even though we thankfully won that one too)

AS FOR YOUR SIDE NOTE—absolutely not😭 respectfully, we are going to pass on klingberg. we need an actually good defenseman, preferably a top 4 LHD, and we’re also hurting bad for a left winger. the rookies just aren’t cutting it lately.

so yeah. love the audacity of the pitch, but we’re gonna politely decline...but congrats on the sherwood trade!

Welp this hockey season was fun. I will watch the rest of the ECF and then I’m done. I refuse to watch Vegas in the final. I don’t want to see a team that willingly signs a person like Carter hart anywhere near the cup and I just know that watching will only bring me more disappointment if it doesn’t go the way I hope it does.

Looking forward to next season where my sharks are hopefully in the playoffs and at least win a game or two while they’re there.

lol yeah i pretty much clocked out the second the wings didn’t make the playoffs because i honestly don’t care about any of the playoff teams this year lol.

and yeah…vegas is a hard no for me. between carter hart and brett howden both being connected to that trial, plus the whole mitch marner #93 thing...just a team filled with absolutely vile human beings.

not to mention vegas had more losses than wins in the regular season, so watching them suddenly “find their game” enough to make a cup final feels…very convenient, let’s say.

so yeah, i will not be watching the final either. i’m just hoping carolina or montreal obliterates them because the thought of people like that being rewarded with a cup genuinely makes me sick.

I love watching PWHL games (can we talk about how nice it is that they’re on YouTube? It feels so much more accessible) and deciding who to support that night purely because of whose uniform I like more in the moment. Like I’m watching Vancouver and Minnesota right now and the first thought the moment I turned on the stream was “wow those Vancouver uniforms are nice”

YES!!! the pwhl being on youtube is such a breath of fresh air...hockey is actually accessible for once??? who'd have guessed when i literally pay for espn+ and still have to do acrobatics just to watch wings games…the blackout nonsense is so ridiculous.

also agreed. i love how distinct all the pwhl color palettes feel—way more variety than a lot of the nhl tbh...
