Seems like to is ALWAYS short lately, but that's not an valid excuse to not get some work in. I've been working on condensing my sessions into shorter training times by doubling up on several exercises at one time. While this isn't optimal to grow any particular exercise, it's optimal from a time perspective. Also it's great to build "work capacity". When you're biggest hang up is what time you have available, much of your training may be sub optimal, but that doesn't mean you can at least maintain, if not get some progress in along the way. Almost a year ago, I was rear ended while driving to my gym. It took me out for a surprisingly long amount of time. In addition to the pain it was hugely demotivating to not be lifting or performing activities I enjoyed for many, many months and I spent the last 1/2 of 2016 generally frustrated. My back is still to quite right sometimes BUT, what I've been focused on this year is just getting in very short & manageable workouts that are easy to sneak in between clients or tasks at @thriveathletics. I'll set a timer for 10-15 minutes and pick a couple of exercises I need to work on and get as much work done as I can at a comfortable pace. The amount of work I'll get done will generally improve over the following weeks. It's. It what I was doing, & for many of my friends and colleagues it won't look very impressive. It's not about being a badass it's about getting consistent. So this year I'm 1.starting where I'm at. 2. Doing what I can. This winter we've been working s ton of locomotion, carrying, crawling with our Iron Kids. Today we put them through a simple obstacle course that proved to be just the right amount of work for our young champions. Some pushing, some pulling, some hanging and jumping and many big smiles.
