Never sure what to say

My job lately has been really challenging. Mostly running around putting out fires and solving problems. Very little actually involves teaching. People always ask, "how is it going?" Like as a greeting, and I never know what to say. My inclination is to say, "good!" When clearly that is not the case. It is just a loaded question, and it really has been stressing me out.
